Aviemore — Restaurant in Peterborough

11:00 AM Sunday, July 21st. I'm 58 and on disability. Just got home (walked) to the Avinmore restaurant... (Its about as far as I can walk) The Food was GREAT... Sunny side eggs were perfect!!! The older waitress wasn't very friendly, tho. Atmosphere reminded me of an old school bus station. Not at all condusive to conversation esp for a guy who's hard of hearing... but great prices! However, after having to pay cash which I did with no attitude... (the place was tiny) so "cash only" made sense... but after paying AND TIPPING my waitress comes over and drops a dirty wipe rag on our table and walks away!??! OMG!!!! I'd planned to at least relax and sip the rest of my coffee but opted to just get the h... outta there, instead. Too bad, really. Just right for a morning walk with breakfast... I'd have gone often....

Such a wonderful, cozy atmosphere here! You walk in, pick your seat and the most friendly serve comes over to bring your menu and take your drink order right away. You're given lots of time to go over the menu and the specials are written on a large chalkboard wall so you don't have have to constantly bug your serve about them. When your server returns it with your beverage of choice and they politely inquire if your ready to order or if you need a bit more time, never pressuring you to order right away! They have the most incredible poutine, so good that you'll be dreaming for days and lots of other great options on the menu including all day breakfast. It says it is a family restaraunt, it even has a kids menu, but they were completely hostile with my family of 4 from thr moment they saw our 2 and 4 year old. They were angry with my 4 year old for ordering her own food, and part of the way through our meal our waitress looked at the spills our 2 year old had made and snapped "You had better clean that up before you leave." We cleaned usually tidy up after her, but have never been asked to! We did not tip (which we have never done in our lives), and all the staff glared at us after paying. We will never go back.
