Salsa in a bag? Go elsewhere.
$28 for 3 mediocre reheated enchiladas with pop, store bought chips and a BAG OF SALSA?
In a container with some other food baked onto it?
Gross.
Maybe worth a third of that and not nearly as good or as large as their one very nearby competitor. Expected some rice and beans and maybe salad like a normal enchilada dinner of that price but no. Good thing I didn't agree to the initial price of $58.
Who has ever thought selling salsa in a bag was acceptable? Or using dirty containers?
I used to eat a couple of times a week at Taqueria El Milagro in Chicago's Mexican Ghetto, where La Mesita originally got their delicious tortillas but I don't believe they are even using their product anymore.
Probably the worst food delivery I have ever had. Not sure what happened, they used to be good but have been declining the last few years and have now apparently hit rock bottom. I had such high hopes when they opened and after watching the decline over the years, through many visits, now it's to the point I just can't do it...
Read moreWe came in for lunch and were sorely disappointed. The restaurant smelled like fish, though there didn't seem to be seafood on the menu, and that should have been the first warning sign. I ordered chicken quesadillas and was given a choice between plain grilled chicken and pollo de crema, which I was told came in a cream sauce that included, among other ingredients, caramelized onions. The sauce tasted like mayonnaise and was otherwise flavorless, no hint of seasoning or caramelized onions. Upon first bite, I crunched down on a bone and barely got through the second bite. I stopped eating because the chicken did not test fresh or high quality and the pile of chicken in the sauce was bad to the point of inedible. The only nice thing about the meal was the Jarritos soda the restaurant sold. The two staff members were very friendly and welcoming, but the food experience was awful and I wouldn't go back, nor would I recommend La Mesita to...
Read moreMy friend and I decided to try this place after hearing good things about it. We came on a Tuesday night and they happened to have their weekly Taco Special, 3 tacos for $10 (normally $14.25).
I had a Chicken Tinga, Pork Carnita and Steak Morita. All of them were bright, fresh and bursting with flavour. The Steak Morita was supposed to be spicey and it was super hot, more than I expected, but I didn’t mind the temporary pain. I don’t quite remember what my friend ordered but I think it was the Carne Asada, Suadero and Chicken Fajita. Anyways whatever she had she loved and she even ordered an extra taco. The two side salsas were great. My friend ended up eating them by themselves.
The place is small and quaint and wasn’t busy when we were there. We got there kind of late before closing. The server-cook was really friendly and guided us on our choices. There is lots of street...
