Sunset Grill — Restaurant in Peterborough

Firstly, I wanna thank my server, Victoria, C. She was well-versed in the menu and had great recommendations. Now when I entered, I stood probably 4 to 5 minutes at the front waiting to be seated seem to be ignored by people that’s really bothers me especially when you have the sign up that says please wait to be seated. It wasn’t busy there were half of the tables full. I would say at that point. The food was OK, The eggs were perfectly cooked. The bacon was delicious. The hollandaise sauce came from a package, but it was OK. but I’ve seen several other reviews regarding the home fries and I agree they are not cooked enough. Some of them are still quite on the raw side so you would think with all of the reviews saying home fries aren’t cooked enough you might try to improve that. I have several years in food and beverage management positions and Another observation I had was that there was way too many people in the cooking area. You had a cook back there actually I believe he might’ve been a dishwasher, but he had a beard with no covering over the beard and way too many people...

Having recently moved to the Peterborough area from Toronto, I had been trying to find a good breakfast spot. I had eaten here and have nothing but good things to say:

The service was impeccable, I was waited on promptly after being seated and had been checked on regularly whilst eating my meal to ensure everything was good and my coffee was topped up

The food was outstanding, I had ordered the Mediterranean omelet and it was incredible. The perfect amount of feta and spinach and tomato complimented each other perfectly. Kudos to the kitchen staff who concoct these amazing and fresh meals so well and quickly (I had received my food within 5 minutes of placing my order!)

The environment was fantastic; very clean, up to date and welcoming. The open kitchen allowing you to see your food being prepared is also very astonishing to see

Food was ok. Came in this morning. Not too busy. We waited 10 MINUTES before I finally asked the younger of the 2 servers who'd walked by my table several times if we could please have coffee. Another 10 min before order was taken. I am in the industry, so I know sometimes whatever, stuff happens. But it killed me to see my food sit and sit and sit and then die under the hot lamp. 40 min from the time we walked in we received our food. My butter pods were liquid. And tbh Id probably overlook all of that if my server actually communicated with us or even smiled. Both of your servers had the longest faces I have ever seen. I swear it looked like both of them were told this was there last day. On earth. Seriously though it just seemed like they didn't like their jobs.
