I’m here to share my own experience at this particular keg. My family and I booked a reservation far in advance at this location we were indeed a larger party, so we had two waitresses. Olivia and Jane were absolutely amazing and thrilled to serve us. they were attentive and always coming back to ask if we needed anything.
As the food arrived, I ordered the blackened chicken with a twined baked potato. Someone at our table did order the same thing and when it came out I noticed that our chicken did not look the same. He had gotten what looked like a great blackened chicken and mine looked plain. The waitress came over and said that it did look a little different and I honestly did not think much of it. she took my plate and came back with the same dish just with the toppings for my blackened chicken (some butter and honey) which again I was appreciative of. As I started eating I did notice that it did not have the same taste and or flavour as I originally remembered (I have ordered this dish before at other kegs)
The waitress came back, noticing I was not eating the chicken and was immediately very empathic and apologized. She said she notified her manager and that she/he would come talk to me. As the bills came I told her that no one has come to talk to me yet. And she again apologized and had basically said that since I decided to take the dish home, it was the least of their concerns (again this is only my assumption)
I paid and tipped as regular as I really did enjoy my waitress and it was not her fault in the end. I did end up throwing my dish out as it was dry and lacked flavour. I’m now just very upset as other Kegs I have been too, I’ve never had an issue, this was my first time. And I also didn’t want to be absolutely rude. Maybe I should have fought back more. But regardless management should have come to discuss it with me. Excellent service poor management, regardless for keg prices, every meal you get there should be...
Read moreCame in with friends for Valentine’s Day diner. I had under the recommendation of our waiter a bone in rib eye Chicago style several months ago. It was excellent. I ordered the same bone in ribeye and recommended it to our friends as well. My friend had one as well and his wife had the peppercorn strip loin. My wife had the 10 oz filet Chicago style medium rare. My bone in ribeye Chicago style medium rare was unbelievably tough. My friend said after « you looked like you were having a really hard time cutting your steak « I should have said something immediately. Beside the fact that I was extremely hungry, I don’t like to complain. Between the 4 of us we spent with tip a little under $500. The meal should have been exceptional. The tuna appetizer and shrimp cocktail were both great and Emily was great as a waitress. We stopped going to the Oshawa Keg after my medium rare bone in ribeye was cooked well done and I was disappointed. The manager came and comped my steak. I am very disappointed and have let my neighbors know when they asked. When we got there the hostess didn’t even have our reservation. It turned out they spelled my friends last name incorrectly. If the tax had been added to our bills we would have been about $550. Once again should have been described as exceptional/spectacular and something to remember. I’ll remember it but not for the right reasons. The steak looked medium rare or at least very close to it. I can’t figure out how you can make a good cut of meat like this so tough. I’m very reluctant to come back as this was probably the worst steak I’ve ever had even considering cheaper cuts. I would appreciate someone contacting me. I have the bill from my wife and I that would have been $275 if the tax relief want in effect. Pictures are of mine and my wife’s meal. The tuna tartare and crème brûle were both very...
Read moreI’m not one to usually leave bad reviews or complain. Yet, I really don’t get the hype with this place. We hadn’t been to the Keg for a couple of years because it was so underwhelming and expensive the last time we went. My husband and I went out for a date night and decided to give it another go. We’re sorry we did. We had to wait for a table, which is fine. We would expect a good restaurant to be busy around dinner time. The hostess at the door was very friendly. We were seated in less than ten minutes but the quickness ended there. Our waitress was very friendly and polite but everything took forever. My husband ordered a Rye and Coke and I was fine with just water. It took just over 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive!!!! I was afraid to order an appetizer because of this wait for our drinks, but I ordered the escargot anyway. We also ordered our dinners because we had been waiting for so long. Another long wait, and I got my escargot. It was fine, nothing great by any means. Dinner came at almost the same time, which meant squeezing all the plates onto the one tiny two person table we had. I had ordered the lobster tails and I had ordered sautéed veggies instead of the rice. It also came with seasonal veggies. Well, the lobster was overdone and rubbery. I had a lot of beets, some peppers, one bush of broccoli and 5 asparagus stems. NOT ONE TOP OF THE ASPARAGUS!!! The stems were too hard to even eat. Even the bread they finally served us was tasteless, hard and cold and we didn’t get it until the rest of our food came. My husband got steak and yes, the steak was good. However, he received 4 green beans, a couple small slices of beets and 4 forkfuls of mashed potatoes. Our bill was $152+tax and gratuity. Absolutely ridiculous and we definitely will not be...
