Disappointed. We had not yet been to One Fine Food so I chose it for my birthday dinner. The reservation was made days in advance. When we arrived, we were wondering why, with an advance reservation, we had the worst seat in the house – a table for two beside the server station and the kitchen. It was very noisy, and we really could not chat. We had a great view of the kitchen and the pizza oven (!) At first everything was fine -- good service, prompt and attentive. Our first course salads arrived in a reasonable time and were good. But then we waited for the pizza. I had ordered a gluten free pizza and my partner ordered regular dough. When the pizzas arrived it was not our server who brought them to the table. I noticed immediately that it was really well done, and burnt on the edges - but being oven fired I gave it a chance. It was burnt a few inches back toward the centre and the burnt taste dominated. I continued to eat mine without comment as it would have taken another 30? 40? Minutes to get a replacement. The burnt dough dominated the taste and experience. This pizza should never have been served to us - why was it? I had been watching the pizza oven during our time there. When the chef was not stretching dough he was standing and waiting for the pizzas to bake. While gluten free pizza could obviously take a different bake time, or perhaps better location in the oven – he certainly had time to attend to the proper baking. The gluten free crust was probably good quality, as were the sauce and ingredients. Good gluten free crust is rare so if they could learn how to bake it properly that would be an improvement. My partner's pizza looked amazing and baked perfectly. But the burnt pizza ruined the taste and my meal. That, along with the noise and table location after making a reservation -- I cannot see us returning. (We did tip our server appropriately for his good service – none of this was his fault.)

My husband and I decided to go out for a lunch date and picked One Fine Food. It was very busy when we arrived but we were able to get a table. We ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer. It was very good. For some reason our waitress disappeared after we received our appetizer. My husband was finished his drink and was looking for a refill. Our meals were delivered by a different server. I ordered the steak sandwich and my husband ordered the One Burger. We ordered the truffle fries. Neither one of us enjoyed those fries. We were not given any new cutlery from our appetizer which was still sitting on our table beside my husband's empty glass. I flagged down another server and asked for a steak knife, which she brought over. It was impossible to cut through the sourdough bread with a butter knife. Finally, we saw our server and asked her for a drink for my husband and some ketchup. She immediately brought the ketchup but did not bring the drink refill. I flagged the waitress down again when my husband had two bites left of his burger and asked for his drink. She advised that she had already "rang it through" but she just had to go get it. I just really wanted the drink because my husband was now drinking mine. My husband enjoyed his burger but I do not recommend the steak sandwich. To be brutally honest, I prefer Boston Pizza's. The steak sandwich was served on sourdough bread which appeared to be fried with butter but was tasteless. The mushrooms and onions were on the bottom of the sandwich which made the bread soggy. The top of the steak was loaded with something that looked like chopped up chives. It was not up to the level I expected from a nice restaurant such as One Fine Food. My husband finished his entire meal without his refill. We were very disappointed in the service and the food that we received. It did not match the price.

I have been shopping at One Fine Food for 2-3 years on and off because I travel to Alberta often.

The men who run the butcher/ cheese area are absolutely wonderful!! 11/10.

I recently had a family member begin working here and was given a discount in the grocery store. Which was great but I was honestly very hesitant to even ask because I have been shopping for so much time there without it and didn’t care.

I was given the discount without issue! Until one day two weeks ago I asked and I was completely ignored! Thinking the girl had not heard me I repeated myself. The girl did not make eye contact with me but gave me the discount. After telling me ” well I can give it to you today but other cashiers might not be so nice” she put all my groceries, meat, veggies and bread squished in one bag and practically throws it at me. I got out of there after telling her to have a nice day politely.

Fast forward, I go there again and it’s the same girl behind the cash, with another girl! I ask for the discount and she says ” it’s for immediate family only” I asked ” even if we live in the same household”. The girl behind her raises her posture and gets a very confrontational tone at me which I assume was because she wasn’t alone at the till this time. “IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEANS YOUR MOM YOUR DAD OR YOUR BOYFRIEND”.

at this point I’m in shock and I’m extremely lost for words. So I interjected “not sure how your boyfriend is immediate family” she looks at me with what looks like DEEP hate in her eyes and says ” LIKE YOUR SPOUSE”.

She leaves and I talk to the other girl about how I really didn’t like that interaction and it was my second negative one with her, and I was feeling uncomfortable. The girl at the counter says she has no idea what I’m talking about and that wasn’t attitude.

I explained that I didn’t want to be rude or cause any issues but I thought it was very important for her and any of her coworkers to know how you talk to and treat people is really important! I work with vulnerable people and a negative Interaction like this left me devastated for two days because I didn’t understand what I had did or if maybe the girl at the counter was associated with someone who did not like me ?

Anyways, they fired my family member and told her they didn’t appreciate her family member giving attitude to their staff and how I was coming in every day asking for a discount!

Oh my goodness the amounts of money I have spent here and having this happen XD.

I was going to chat with a manager and apologize for possibly offending her staff and explain my side of this horrible experience but quite honestly I’m anxiety ridden after all the negative energy and I don’t think anything positive would come from it, for if they already assumed their staff were in the right I don’t want to be attacked moving forward.

I loved one fine foods so much! and would have recommended them to anyone. They have a great selection of everything you could ever need! and it’s always fresh but this was...

Came here because my in laws love this place. I think it’s because it’s a refreshing addition to an otherwise very corporate and unconscious retail landscape. The grocery store part they do very well with all the higher end food producers in Ontario represented. It’s high end food, groceries and housewares. There is some points of disappointment to mention. The housewares, it was like a page off the abbot website - a wholesale distributor of goods. It was odd to me to see so much local food but almost no locally made goods. I work in marketing and could very much tell the store buyer just pulled from an abbot seasonal line. There was a couple locally made goods but nothing of note in the housewares section. It’s interesting to jump into home goods and have such a high mark up. When those same products are sold in stores in the mall behind. We grabbed some items to take with us to the cottage. What wasn’t super expected was the rudeness of the deli staff and the cashier. Neither of them were warm and made us feel like we were bothering them. The young man at the deli was pretty enthralled in his private conversation with the two other men, he graciously finished his tale of the night before for his fellow co-workers before bothering to acknowledge us. It would have been also appropriate and appreciated for him to wash his hands after handling sea food then our deli items but hey the fact we got served at all was the best we were going to get. My partner asked for what he wanted and took it. He decided to come back and grab a different item and mentioned the staff - the same one. Was kinda just rude to him. Which makes me sad because my partner is always nice to service people. Like overly nice and he usually can warm up any interaction. The cashier was one of the most sad sapped looking folks I have ever met. No hi or hello. No thank you. I’d have preferred to cash myself out, they would have been a warmer experience. Would I come here again, sure but it wouldn’t be my first choice. It’s a very pricy store for such poor service and it’s not very imaginative. The prepared food was also a miss for us. We grabbed some items and found it to be okay but not the quality we would get in Toronto. Overall, I’m sure this is a great alternative for people living in the area but in terms of high end and sustainable food stores which is kind of what they branded themselves as. They really don’t make the grade. Again it’s pretty expensive for what it is and that would be fine. If it matched that price point in service and imagination of...

One Fine Foods has a good cafĂŠ with decent espresso, cappuccino and lattĂŠ. My wife and I went there in December 2024, we ordered fried calamari appetizer, a Caesar salad, Salmon dish and steak. The calamari was dripping with oil, soggy. Salad was okay but the dressing did not seem to have anchovies. The steak was ordered to be medium, but was overcooked, charred, hard, and cooked beyond well done. The prices were way too high as we paid over $250 including 2 glasses of california wine.

We went there again last month, only due to pressure from some friends to celebrate a birthday. Again we ordered the fried calamari dish, a Caesar salad with grilled chicken and I ordered spaghettini with chicken parmegiana. The salad was fresh but the dressing was too runny, had no flavour, croutons were soggy. Calamari was dripping with oil as before. As for spaghettini, it was not cooked to al dente, but overcooked pasta, could not be twisted and twirled on the spoon as they broke into bits. The chicken parrmigiana was way soggy, no crispness in the batter and was like a piece of cloth wrapped around a thin chicken breast slice. Meat was flavorless. Prices were not worth the improper italian dishes they claim to excel in! As a consultant culinary chĂŠf of several MichĂŠlĂn star restaurants in Europe and having traveled extensively in Italy, I would not patronize this restaurant again.

The staff is extremely polite and entertaining, and the dimly lit ambience is romantic and comfortable.

But the main reason for restaurant experience is the food. Higher prices should be proportional to the quality of menu items and how well they are prepared and cooked, presented and how they smell the aromas, the taste, it's complexity of textures and it's overall experience on the palate.

You never seeve an overcooked and charred steak to a paying guest who ordered a medium cooked one. You never ever serve overcooked pasta and chicken parmigiana has a crispy texture, only patches of sogginess where it touched tomato sauce and Alfredo sauce. That second time we paid $120 something for food and 2 glasses of a horrible white wine, plus 18%...
