Big Bite Grill — Restaurant in Pickering

So glad to come across this little hidden gem!

Located in a small plaza, it can be hard to miss if you're not looking carefully. I've been hunting for a good hamburger restaurant ever since Retro Burger started downsizing. I came across Big Bite Grill and decided to check it out.

I went on a Sunday afternoon and was promptly greeted and seated by the waitress. The atmosphere inside definitely feels more like a casual sit-down restaurant as opposed to a take out burger joint. There are so many interesting things on the menu, but I came to try the burgers. The 8oz. burger I got had a nice grill on it (I think it's flame-grilled?) with a delicious flavour and wasn't overly greasy. The buns are toasted, as they should be, and the toppings are fresh. The onion rings had a nice batter on them, but the onions inside were quite thin and stringy. The sweet potato fries were like butter! The fountain cola was delicious and came in a glass: I can't stress enough to restaurants how much of a difference this makes...whether it be coffee in a mug, or cola in a glass, this drastically improves the taste and dining experience!

The service was absolutely fantastic! I genuinely felt welcomed, unrushed and really valued. The server had such a warm and pleasant demeanor and the food arrived hot, fresh, and in a timely fashion.

2 cheeseburgers, 1 onion rings, 1 sweet potato fries, and 2 fountain drinks came to around $40, which is fairly standard for a sit-down restaurant.

Overall, it seems like Big Bite Grill aims to do things right and really seems to value it's customers. I will certainly be back for more burgers and also to try some of the many other items...

I just moved in Pickering about a month ago and today my best friend is getting married, and I am his best man. I decided to have some breakfast at a new restaurant here bickering even though I was yearning to go to a Denny’s and Oshawa.

I ordered the home style breakfast word included three eggs, home fries, toast, sausage, bacon, and hot cakes. I also ordered a glass of apple juice and I asked the waitress for about a quarter cup of ice. When she came with the apple juice, it only had literally two individual ice cubes in there. I went she had to ask her for another cup with half cup ice.

The eggs I felt or not running enough even though I asked for over easy as I felt, there was only really just one egg where I was able to get some yolk from; the pancakes were small and dry, and they did not have any butter on them. I actually have to ask them butter cups. I am on the way just came back with the butter cups. They were literally hard I had to basically place the two butter cups underneath the pancakes to heat up the butter so it could be soft enough to spread on the pancakes.

Also, she never threw out the breakfast and asked me if everything was OK and even when I paid for my meal, there was no smile and she did not say thank you come again or anything like that. I felt like it was a street transaction and I was just a number. This is the first time and last time I will ever set foot . People really need to learn their customer service skills because that is what makes or breaks...

The burgers!!! The fries!!! The service!!! The first time I stumbled across this top notch burger joint I asked the shop owner next door how the burgers were and she literally replied "OMG they are SOOOOOOOO good!!!" With that I went next door and lined up with the many students and ordered a burger dressed how I like it and an order of the fresh home cut fries! Sri and his family definitely cook with love! The homemade burger melts in your mouth, the fries cooked to perfection!! The portions are perfect and more than enough to fill even the most hungry customer! The next time I ordered i had mentioned to my coworkers about me picking lunch up from this incredible Mom n Pop burger joint...they wanted to give it a try and were just as pleased as I was the first time I ordered!!! My 3rd visit was a somber one. Sri informed me that the landlord was not renewing his lease after being there for 7 years, and he would be closing temporarily while he located another location to reopen. Once again I left with burgers & fries to take home to my family vowing to return on the weekend to support him and his family while this amazing place is still here! Just to note...I come from Scarborough...that's just how great of a burger joint Sri and his family operate!! Sri thank you for tantalizing our tastebuds and tummies with your culinary skills!!
