Sometimes when you have a gem right next to you, it does not get the attention and love that it is due. Similar is the case with Milanu's Tandoori Grill - I cannot sing it's praises enough and it throroughly deserves all the accolades and rave reviews by it's patrons.
We have visited Milanu's earlier when it had patio seating which we had enjoyed. Now, however, we had to sit inside. The restaurant itself is very clean with neatly arranged seating. We were greeted politely by Aaron and showed to our table. Aaron was also gracious and efficient throughout our stay by not only proferring recommendations but also bringing out the food quickly.
We ordered the following: Fried Fish -- delicately fried morsels of fresh fish. It was crispy and not oily at all. Served with a mint chutney and a small salad of lettuce, cucumber and onions
Chicken 65 -- boneless pieces of fried chicken coated with a tangy sauce redolent with the flavour of mustard seeds and dry red chillies. It reminded me of a similar dish that I have had in Chennai
Chicken Tikka Masala -- we chose this instead of going for the ubiquitous butter chicken. It was good in terms of it's creaminess and lack of in-your-face sweetness. My kids enjoyed it immenseley
Punjabi Goat Curry -- a thick onion-based gravy which went very well with the naan as well as with the pulao. This was the absolute STAR of the whole meal for us. It was hands down one of the best renditions of a goat curry that I have ever had. I'm going to always order this every time I visit
Garlic Naan -- large, thin and crisp naans. Be careful how many you order as we had ordered 4 naans and could only finish 2 and a half (for a family of two adults and two children)
Punjabi Veg Pulao -- we wanted to order plain basmati rice to eat alongwith the curries but chose this instead. It was a good companion to the goat curry
Masala Chai -- spice Indian milk tea. Although I don't find highly spiced teas very appealing, this tea was so addictive and helped to wash down all the great food
All in all, we couldn't have asked for a more delightful meal experience on a quiet Sunday afternoon. This restaurant deserves to be high on the list of Pickering's best places to dine at.
Two Years Ago - Incredibly flavourful food, squeaky clean restaurant/kitchen area, impeccable hospitality & service from the hosts. The must order menu items include: Chicken Sheekh Kabab Sholay Chicken Tikka Tandoori Mushrooms Chicken 65 Chicken Pulao Tandoori Butter Chicken curry
I am so glad that this wonderful restaurant has now opened increasing the choices for great Indian food...

We had some family coming over for dinner on a Friday and didn’t have time to cook. Decided to call Milanu’s for suggestions and quantities—and as always, they came through!
We ordered fish tikka, chicken malai tikka, gobi 69, paneer tikka, soya chaap, and aloo tikki chaat for appetizers. For dinner, we trusted their recommendation and went with chicken and veg biryani.
The food was just awesome. Our guests absolutely loved it!
The quantities and combinations of dishes that the owner, Andy, suggested were perfect. These guys are very knowledgeable and truly know what they’re doing.

Milanu's Tandoori Grill is heaven for Desi Street food lovers. If any one is looking for authentic desi style street food in the Durham area or the GTA, your search is over. Make your way to Milanu’s Tandoori Grill in Pickering. These guys have been around for a bit over a year now and they expanded their menu with items which are typically found in the streets of Delhi or northern India.
Last night, we decided to order from Milanu’s and our dinner's theme was "street food", as we really missed the hustling and bustling streets of Delhi, or even the streets of Pickering as everything has been so quiet due to the lockdown.
We ordered the new items that they added to their menu, like tandoori soya chap and papri chaat, which were just amazing. I have tried soya chaps at a few other restaurants in GTA and they don’t even come close to Milanu’s. I don’t think anyone else in Durham has this on menu Soya chap were my wife’s favourite. Of course, a street food themed dinner cannot be complete without Bhatura Channa and Aloo tikki chaat, so we ordered that as well. Pindi Chana from Milanu’s is my all time favourite dish. Some other dishes we ordered were tandoori fish tikka, paneer tikka, mali chicken tikka, gobi 65 and butter chicken poutine. The poutine is my daughter’s favourite. I believe that they are using masala fries for the poutine, which gives it extra punch. In my opinion, I feel that they should add cheese curds to the butter chicken poutine to represent traditional Canadian poutine, but it still tastes phenomenal. The cheese would only compliment the flavours and make it taste even better.
Gobi 65 is one of my other favourite dishes. My parents both loved the bhatura chana & paneer tikka.
I cannot wait until the dine in opens or for patio season to start again because their food tastes even better when you eat it fresh out of...
Read moreIf you’ve ever roamed the bustling streets of Lajpat Nagar in Delhi, searching for that perfect plate of Pindi Chana / Chole Bhatoore, then Milanus Restaurant in Pickering is about to teleport you right back there.
🌟 The Star of the Show: Pindi Chana Bhatoora ( Above all the ratings)
Milanus doesn’t just serve Chana Bhatoore – it serves the best Pindi Chana Bhatoora in Canada. The bhatooras are soft, fluffy, and golden, with just the right stretch and crisp edges. But it’s the chana – rich, dark, spiced to perfection with that unmistakable earthy Pindi-style masala – that takes center stage. Each bite is a nostalgic journey through the narrow lanes of Delhi. It's the kind of dish that countless Indian food lovers have tried to find in hidden corners of Canada – and finally, Milanus delivers it.
🍖 A Must-Try: Mixed BBQ Platter We also tried the Mixed Barbecue Platter, which came loaded with juicy chicken and mutton kebabs, perfectly marinated tandoori and chicken tikka, and flavor-packed grilled fish. Each item was cooked to perfection – smoky, tender, and bursting with spices. It’s a fantastic sharing platter and highly recommended alongside the Chana Bhatoora. (4/5)
🍛 Other Dishes We Tried:
Makhani Daal – Creamy, slow-cooked, and comforting. (3.5 / 5)
Chili Chicken – Well-balanced spice and crispness; a classic Indo-Chinese favorite.(3.5/5)
Steamed Chicken Momos – Delicate and juicy, great as an appetizer.(3.5/5)
Chicken Manchurian – Tangy, saucy, and satisfying.(4/5)
Pyaz Pakorhe – Crispy, spiced, and ideal with their thick, traditional Lassi, which itself was a refreshing treat. (5/5)
👍🏼 All these dishes were quite decent and worth trying, especially alongside your main order. But let’s be clear: the real reason to visit Milanus is the Pindi Chana Bhatoora.
👨🍳 Hospitality That Warms the Heart What makes Milanus truly special is not just the food, but the people behind it. The owner is incredibly welcoming and understanding – the kind of host who makes you feel at home. Interestingly, the name Milanus is a beautiful blend of the owner's name and his wife’s – a personal touch that reflects the care and love they pour into the restaurant. His hospitality shines through, adding warmth to the whole experience.
📍 Final Verdict: Milanus is a hidden gem in Pickering. It serves what many have been searching for – authentic, soul-satisfying Pindi Chole Bhature. If that’s a flavor close to your heart, your...
