During my travels, I stumbled upon this restaurant and decided to give it a try based on the positive reviews. We ordered a sezwan style noodle, chkn fried rice, and kung pao chkn. All the dishes were exceptional. The flavors reminded me of my favorite restaurant back home, evoking a sense of nostalgia that prompted me to return the next day for another meal. However, the taste of my favorite dish (Chkn fried rice)was slightly different and underwhelming this time around. Also,we requested Chowmein noodles in sezwan style as a substitute to the fat noodles. Our order was perhaps mixed up and lost in translation coz we got the chowmein noodles but in a different kind of sauce. We didn't think of it as a bad experience as it tasted alright and we were okay with trying out new flavors. It seemed that the owner’s husband had taken over the cooking duties on this day. Despite this, the overall flavors were still good, solidifying this place as a hidden gem. Their chilli sauce hits the spot for spice lovers.
Atmosphere and Service: The owner, a lady, did not exude friendliness and kept mostly to herself during our visit. Her lack of warmth and absence of even a smile was off-putting. I was quite disappointed by the lack of kid-friendly atmosphere. The restaurant had exquisite plants placed within arm’s reach, which naturally piqued my child’s curiosity. However, to my surprise, the owner reprimanded my toddler for simply being interested in the plants. The owner expressed concern that my child might accidentally drop the pots, which made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable.
It is important for restaurants to not only focus on providing great food but also to create a welcoming environment for families with children. Unfortunately, this establishment fell short in that aspect. I believe that a more accommodating approach towards families with young children would greatly enhance the overall dining experience.I hope that the owner takes into account the importance of creating a more inclusive and family-friendly environment in the future.
While I would consider taking away food from here when passing through again due to the delicious flavors, I would hesitate to dine in given the less-than-welcoming atmosphere.
Final Thoughts: In conclusion, while the food at this restaurant is undoubtedly delicious and reminiscent of hot meals from my favorite dine in spot in Mumbai, the inconsistent taste of dishes prepared by different cooks and the uninviting demeanor of the owner detract from the overall dining experience. Despite these drawbacks, for those seeking authentic Chinese cuisine with excellent flavors, this hidden gem is worth a visit or atleast...
Read moreOur "go to" restaurant when we eat out in Pincher Creek. Owned and operated and well maintained by Jeannette and her husband without the the assistance of serving staff, dishes are prepared and cooked to order without MSG or other additives and can be adapted for those with food allergies. The food is delicious, served piping hot with generous portions of chicken, beef, and fresh vegetables. We order off the "a la carte" menu our favourites being the War Wonton and Hot and Sour Soups, crispy fried egg rolls, dry spare ribs and Kung Pao Sizzling Hot Plates. Highly recommended not only by us but also by the many guests who stay with us including those from China and other overseas countries. Don't miss out, be sure to visit "The Green Bamboo" when in...
Read moreNo MSG in the buffet. Best chinese I've had in a long time. We came from out of town to stay a couple of nights in Pincher Creek. We were pleasantly surprised to discover Green Bamboo Peking House. The staff were super friendly, it's a very family friendly atmosphere. We arrived close to the time the buffet was closing so there was slim pickings. We ordered off the menu and took it to go. It was ready super fast, was good and hot still when we got back and when we dug into it - oh so good! We ordered Almond Chicken, Gingered Beef, Chicken Fried Rice, and Vegetable Noodles. The sauces were sweet, the fried rice had lots of vegetables in it too, the portion sizes were great. If I am ever in the area again we will definitely...
