The LOFT at Meadow Gardens — Restaurant in Pitt Meadows

We arrived with reservations and the waiter wanted to put us right by the door that staff use to bring food out to the patio. Only 1 table out of 13 was occupied on the patio. We asked if we could sit somewhere away from the door. Our waiter said he would have to check because there were other reservations arriving soon. This didn't make sense to us since we had a reservation and were there at the moment. All tables that were empty were for 4 people. Our waiter came back and agreed to let us sit elsewhere. We were there for 1 hour and when we left, all the tables were still empty. We also arrived 10 minutes before happy hour ended. We talked to the waiter about the food on the happy hour menu and decided not to order anything however changed our minds and asked to order something when our drinks arrived. The waiter said it was now just after 5 and happy hour was over. We mentioned we had changed our minds but it had taken him about 10 minutes to bring us our drinks. He begrudgingly went and asked his manager if he could accept our order. In any event, the service we received did not feel welcoming and although the restaurant was quiet, the service was slow. We chose The Loft this year for our annual Morgan Family Dinner. My husband, Chris & I have been there many times before & the food was good. Chris made the reservation the week before. We had a party of 7 so we wanted to be sure to have a table especially on a Saturday night. Our disappointment started with the restaurant not having a reservation. I heard him repeat the date & time several times when on the telephone when he made the reservation. Ok so they were able to accommodate us as there were few people there. Very small selection of appies which were not very tasty at all. The server was good but they were understaffed so he was kept quite busy. The 7 main meals were COLD but most of us ate little of our meal & the server apologized for the late arrival of dinner! I suspect the food was sitting there in the kitchen! What a huge disappointment. This was no fault of the serving staff as they all did the best they could. They were pleasant & apologetic. This is my second time coming to the loft and the first time was really good, unfortunately this time was a disappointment. I ordered the lamb and they asked how I wanted it cooked and I said medium. It came to me very rare. I don’t like to send food back but the lamb was barely warm in the middle so I did. When it came back it was still rare. The waitress, who was lovely, told me they remade it. It was not remade because the one piece I had bitten into was still there. She was not impressed that the kitchen staff lied to her and neither was I. At this point I lost all trust in the kitchen staff to not tamper with my food if I sent it back again so I just gave it back to the waitress and asked her to remove it from the bill.
