I'm honestly very disappointed in my last visit to this earls location. I have been here twice recently. Last visit Thursday August 31st 2023. Went in at 730pm asked to sit outside because inside was loud and I was there for a first date so wanted to be able to hear the person I'm with. We get sat outside by one person, next another person brings us water, it took them a while to bring the water so at this point we're ready to order. The water person says he needs to get the server to take our order but could take our drink order. ... ok we order drinks. Next the server comes out (a different person) takes our food order. I ordered the full green salad with breaded chicken. My date says he doesn't want anything but then changes his mind and gets wings. (While the server is still at the table) he said it will come out at different times now because he already sent the salad through. Ok no big deal. (I was a server for many years and in my experience I would of went to the kitchen and said hey this table order is actually together and they would say ok and sent it out together) the waiter didn't do that. So my dates wings come out and he doesn't want to start without me. I tell him go ahead but he's being polite. We wait another 10 mins for my salad, so now his wings are cold. Salad with chicken and wings should of been made around the same time. Also the size and price of my food alone is actually crazy to me $21.50 before tax and tip for a green salad and chicken. Also I didnt get breaded chicken like I ordered I got grilled but I was so hungry by the time I got it, I didn't care and ate it. To me this salad was very small, nothing special, no expensive ingredients like cheese or nuts, to add up to the price. Maybe it's the amount of staff they have to go to one table? Which I also think is funny. Then we asked for the bill 4 separate times to 3 different people and I believe it took the (manager) lady in brown pants to get it for us. She apologized for the wait but to me this service is unacceptable. Picture of the salad with chicken at Earls, and a picture of a salad I made at home for 12$ (for example) with nuts and expensive cheese plus twice the size. You go to a restaurant to have fun, get waited on, and good service and food. This visit had none of that unfortunately. Will I give this establishment another go? Only time...
Read moreMy spouse and I ordered take out on January 6th, 2023, from the poco location, after receiving a gift card for Christmas. We are busy new parents of a newborn baby and felt it more appropriate to take out vs dine in.
We ordered 2 entrees, 2 appetizers, and a dessert, totaling $104.48 (aka this was a sufficiently large order). My spouse arrived at the restaurant at the specified time (15 minutes drive 1-way from our home) and had to wait over 15 minutes to receive our order. Upon opening our order after he returned home, one of our appetizers was completely missing...the spinach dip, with an obnoxious price tag of $18.75.
We proceed to call your restaurant. And are told we can return to pick up the missing item (15 minutes each way with entrees already getting cold) or we can have a "credit" for the item the next time we order. #1: maybe after this experience we aren't interested in returning? #2: if we were to accept this credit option, they would take our name and number and we would "sort it out" the next time we were in. No offer of a physical gift card or egift card (which is possible because that's what we received as a gift for Christmas), nor a reverse charge to our credit card (which we provided to pay for the remainder of our order additional to the original gift card, so you had it on file).
With frustration and few options, my spouse does the return drive to the location to retrieve the missing item. He again waited more than 15 minutes for service. When he voiced concerns about the unprofessionalism of the entire situation to the front of house, she proceeded to write his information in crayon on the back of a random receipt stating we would be entitled to a free spinach dip if we were to return in the future. Again, this felt unprofessional and dismissive. Ultimately, we are here posting about our experience to enlighten management of their staff's behaviour; and explain why we will never be returning to this franchise again. For potential future customers: for the price tag, don't spend your hard...
Read moreI’ve been to a few earls in the lower mainland they’re typically a few years apart I usually hope the experience isn’t the same as the last time but 9/10 times I seem to be disappointed.
It was a warm enough day so we wanted to be seated outside, myself and one other person came during happy hour. We got escorted to the seats fairly quickly however the seats to our displeasure were not clean. They had stains that seemed to have been there for a while. I could understand people spilling drinks but what appeared to be bird poop was rather disheartening to see.
We ordered steak frites and upgraded to the 7oz options, I ordered medium rare and my friend got a medium. Quickly I was disappointed the steak seemed to have been refried or reheated as it wasn’t flavourful. It seemed reheated and dry, not only mine but my friends as well lacked any real flavour and substance just chewy all around. Fries were overdone and hard, I was hoping that something like potatoes which is simple would be the easiest things to execute.
The one redeeming highlight of the meal was the cheesecake. Whether it’s made in-house or sourced externally, it was well-executed and enjoyable — a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing meal.
It’s disheartening to see a well-established brand like Earl's struggle with consistency, especially when other restaurants in the area are able to offer higher quality and better value. I genuinely hope this feedback reaches management and prompts a review of kitchen practices and service standards. Earl's has the potential to deliver much more — and I’d like to see it live up to that.
