Pizza is not too bad but it is a massive scam, price-wise!!
I usually buy pizza once or twice a week. I live just on the border of Northhumberland and Durham Region, so I usually shop at Food Basics, next to the railroad, in Port Hope. I did not even realize there was a pizza place just across the road until my regular place in Northhumberland was experiencing problems and could not cook the day I was grocery shopping. I had heard good things about Pizzaland in the past, but this was long before Covid, so maybe that has something to do with it.
While on the way to Food Basics, I called up Pappa's Pizzaland and asked the price of an extra large pizza with three toppings--I had noticed their prices on their website went up to large, but not extra large. The lady on the phone stated that three toppings for an extra large would come to $17.99. I did a quick calculation in my head and realized that would equate to somewhere between $20 and $21. When I arrived to pick up the pizza, I was surprised to see their 'extra large' was the same size as all other pizza restaurants' 'large' pizza. Normally I do not buy pizzas in Northhumberland so I just thought their sizes were habitually smaller than everyone else in the province. But when I found out that the price was well in excess of $25, I began to have second thoughts. I asked for the receipt, in order to make sense of it, but the lady then told me their printer was on the fritz and showed me their interact machine by taking the top off and showing me all the scrunched up receipt paper. I told her I would wait, but another customer showed up and she began to take his transaction. She did not offer me any receipts, even after I asked for them, she stating it was a technical problem that was out of her control.
These days, all pizzas are not too bad. They have to be, in order for people to keep paying for them. But this was clearly a double whammy. Give a large pizza to an extra large customer, then charge more than the 13% tax, in order to make a great profit...just like the grocery stores have been doing for the past several years.
I have never been ripped off by a pizza place before. When I pick up the pizza, the price is still the same as what was uttered over the phone. This is the first time a pizza place has actually charged me more than the legal tax and given me a smaller pizza than for what I asked at the same time. ENOUGH OF THIS RUBBISH ALREADY. If you have to steal from your customers, in order to make an honest living, you should not be in business. Go back to working the production line,...

We got the Wednesday wing special (20 wings or boneless bites for $15.99). We got the boneless bites (we counted 20 in both our containers, which was a nice thing to see) and the wings themselves were delicious but the amount of sauce on them was lacking. I get not everyone likes their wings soaking in sauce so next time we get them we'll be asking for 'heavy sauce' and we'll see if it's better.
Service was great. There was a few people at the counter and everyone was nice. The man who packed up our wings put them nicely in a bag for us and wished us a good night. The girl who rang us up was pleasant as well.
Price is alright. It's fairly competitive with other places. For example Pizza Hut, with a coupon, is $0.69/wing. Papa's is $0.80. The Wing House in Cobourg is $0.86. So it's somewhere in the middle. An option on the Wednesday special for 10 and 15 size would be nice to see.
Just as a general suggestion to Papa's -- putting a backlighting your sign would go a long way. My wife and I almost drove past because there's almost zero storefront presence (Papa's sign has no light, only a small 'Open' light in the window).
Overall - we will be trying out Papa's again; we're going to try the Monday pizza+cheese bread special and we'll try the wings again (with request for heavy sauce). I will update...
