I had the chance to try the
While spending the afternoon in Port Hope with my family, we came across this great restaurant near the East Side Beach.
Following COVID-19 Guidelines, they only offered outdoor seating. Both in a sit-down dining option on dishware, and in a takeout at the picnic tables option. I think the main difference was that on the official patio, there is a seat capacity. We had a group of 5 so we were only able to sit at the picnic tables.
After taking a look at their menu, we decided to go with:
Demeter – Black bean burger ( add the chipotle mayo ) Dionysus – Build Your Own - Beef Burger Dionysus – Build Your Own - Chicken Burger Kid's Burger – Build Your Own - Veggies on a Bun
The ordering process was quick and efficient, it really only took 15min for our order to be ready.
the staff were also so kind and friendly and very willing to accommodate our requests.
I ordered the Beef burger but got the chance to try both the Chicken Burger & the Black Bean Burgers. All three were delicious, but there were a few things I wasn't expecting.
If you ask for lettuce on your burger, you will get mixed greens instead. It was slightly disappointing to not have some crunchy cool lettuce, but not a deal breaker.
If you pay extra for the cheddar cheese, it will be shredded cheese melted on to the bun not a slice.
The Kids Burger is tiny, if you ever order the kids burger, be aware that it's really small, it's essentially the size of a slider. A great option for kids but not the best choice for someone looking for a snack.
Lastly, if you're a fan of very well done fries, you will love theirs, but if not, I would suggest asking for lightly done fries. We got a few orders of fries and they were really well done, we went back to the counter to ask about them, and they gladly offered us some complimentary replacement fries. They were so great! They are these great thick-cut home made fries that you just can't stop eating.
A few Pro Tips:
They also have a Secret Menu which can be found on their website in the drop down menu
Pop is bottomless, so you can get quite a few refills.
If you're also a fellow Yelper, I would highly suggest Checking in on Yelp to get a...
Read more3rd or 4th visit: feb 23, 2024 the girlfriend and i have tried the zeus and ares before, yesterday we did the hades and dionysus.. if you want to build your own, that's the dionysus.. you'll get to choose beef or lamb. the fries we okay, table next to us were complaining about them though. anyway, from my last rating of 4, changed it to a 5.. thanks olympus! my faith in the gods has been restored!
old reviews (below) great place if you're fed up with franchise fastfood/burger joints, menu could use some updates though cause if i recall i went sometime last year and out of the menu (gods) i picked the same burger going with what i like (poor memory). this place is closer to a 4.5 than a 4 for food, really.. couldn't find it in my heart to give 5 stars when there's always room for opportunity, and it's not that I've tasted better (like a&w's short-lived "best burger ever" in 2022), it's just there's.. something missing that makes olympus unique. like revolution burger has its thing, or south st. in 30 minutes since we sat down to eat, the table was 'touched' 4x.. a little overkill in my opinion.. owner(?) was VERY nice, i have to stress. the place was 65% occupied inside, but didn't have to wait long for our order (took 10 mins, made to order) lots of parking space outside, and on a good day, outdoor seats are available.
we got the zeus, and ares combos.. upgraded to olympus poutine or something.. chocolate shake.. girlfriend had onion rings.. if you're not a fan of onions, modify your olympus poutine.. onion rings are crunchy but there's not a lot of flavor in them -but we've had worse!
would try em again, perhaps a...
Read moreThis restaurant was featured in the now-cancelled YOU GOTTA EAT HERE TV show on the FOOD NETWORK. As soon as you enter the premises, you are greeted by the accommodating and friendly staff. We came on a Saturday so there was a full house. Our order was taken immediately, and we were given an option for takeout or to wait for a table. We opted to wait for a table so we could experience the atmosphere. The restaurant was clean, and the condiments were fully stocked and tastefully presented. It was also considered a "green restaurant" because of the use of utensils made of bamboo and paper straw, so they were biodegradable. The owner was also very hands-on and was always asking around if everything was up to our expectations and even graciously took a picture with us. The burgers we ordered were excellent, tasty, and well-priced. I would say it's worth the drive to PORT HOPE. Give it a try if you are ever in this part of Ontario. I'd like to update my visit. I took a 16-minute drive from Couborg to Olympus Burger because that is where we are staying for a couple of days. I'm still in awe at their fast service, to die for burgers, the onion rings were so crispy you can hear the crunch from a mile. I wanted to find a flaw, but there was none. The washroom was immaculate and well-kept. I looked at the corners, hoping to find dust, but it was spotless. This burger joint is well managed and fairly priced, and the taste has been consistent from 5 years or so when I came to visit. Kudos to the management and keep up...
