Pictured is the traditional jerk chicken. I also ordered veg samosas. The jerk chicken was very good as were the samosas and plantain included with the jerk chicken. However, the rice was bland and it had red kidney beans in it instead of peas. The description on the website said peas as did the woman on the phone who took my order. It was fine for me to have it with kidney beans but my friend is allergic and could not have any of the food we intended to share.
There was also a price difference between what is listed on the website and what was charged at the cash register. The jerk chicken is listed as $15.99 but was charged at $17 and a three piece samosa is listed as $5.99 but was charged at $9. I understand with inflation the cost of raw ingredients has increased and business cannot always absorb the cost so naturally menu prices will go up….however, when prices go up the changes should be reflected on restaurants website. Otherwise it is misleading…….
Pros: very good jerk chicken, vegetable samosas, and plantain. Cons: bland rice, variance of ingredients, variance of price, long (40 minute) wait time, no dine in or consistent delivery (also it’s $7 for in town Port Hope delivery)
TIP: if you have allergies make sure they are known and confirm the price before placing your order, if that matters to you.
Edit: I ordered a 3piece veg samosa but was charged for a 6piece veg samosa. To be honest when I opened the bag and saw 6 I thought they had given me extra because they are so small. I expected the usual large tetrahedral shaped samosas. As you can see in the photo they are smaller are triangular.
If you’re passing through Port Hope and looking for a place to eat I recommend Olympus burger (directly beside U92). Check out their secrete menu listed on their website, you won’t be...
Read moreI love rooting for small local businesses, so I decided to check this place out. Unfortunately, it was a big disappointment. Not sure if the staff was just in a bad mood, but the atmosphere felt off from the start. When we asked about the best-selling dishes, we got a snarky “everything on the menu” in response. The food was bland and lacked flavor, so I asked for some hot sauce to liven it up. The guy shot back that it wasn’t free and I’d have to pay for it, with a seriously rude tone.
In response to your message: we honestly didn’t even realize your lunch break had passed. When we were looking at your TV screen, the display was moving so quickly that we couldn’t even see the time range on the special. That’s why we pointed it out and mentioned that it was moving way too fast. Not sure if you remember, but your response came off quite rude and sarcastic—you said something like you were “trying to slow it down, lol.” Do you remember that? Also, paying for the hot sauce was absolutely no big deal. As soon as you mentioned there was a charge, we immediately told you it was...
Read moreI'm gonna have to give every other place I go to 4 stars now, because THIS is the real 5 stars!! My boyfriend and I found this place through Google maps after the Taste of Agra closed in Cobourg, and making the extra drive over to try U92 out was SO worth it. We both got the butter chicken, his "normal" and mine vegan, and the veggie samosas. When they say they have lots of vegan options, they mean LOTS!! For those whose only option dining out is complicated customizations, eating here is so refreshing. Plus, we were told that everything is handmade and not pre-packaged, so if there is an option you'd like thay isn't vegan, they can probably make it vegan for you. Not to mention the food is absolutely fantastic, the prices affordable, the portions generous... mmm. Just mmm. I can't rave enough, you'll just have to try it for yourself!
PS to the owners: We were told that if we enjoyed the food we should call in and say, but we didn't want to clog up your phone line in case people wanted to call in orders. We very much enjoyed the food, though! Thank...
