I am very sad to be giving this place a one star considering that for the last few years this has been a go-to for my husband and I. Over the years we have enjoyed their rice pilaf, their calamari, their gyro and their to-die-for lemon potatoes. Honestly, everything was good.
I have no clue what happened, my guess is they have changed ownership.
Since this summer the food has been consistently terrible. Over the summer I realized that the rice pilaf has changed texture, the gyro doesn’t taste the same and the lemon potatoes have gone from a favourite to something that literally shouldn’t be served at a restaurant. We gave it a few more tries thinking it was a one-off thing. Nope, it wasn’t. Every single time after that has progressively gotten worse. The last time we finally decided to say we will sadly not be returning again. The rice pilaf was so mushy and the lemon potatoes were basically just potatoes in oil to name a few things that have gone wrong during that meal.

We bustled into restaurant midweek at lunchtime - and restaurant was near to full, which to me is a positive sign! Second point. The server was super friendly, that is always a fantastic start! Third point. MUCH menu selections all with reasonable pricing. Fourth point. Quick food service. Fifth point. Food was delicious!!! Long time standing - one of my favourite meals is the hot chicken Caesar salad. In Winnipeg my fav places for this dish: Dal’s and Kristina’s on Corydon. Over the Coals runs parallel with these mentioned diners! Salad was nicely “garlicky”, fresh and crisp! Lots of chicken! Bonus is the yummy pita bread! Sixth point. I will definitely be returning to sample more menu...

Havent been there for awhile because I dont work downtown. But...
