I don’t know where to start we ordered veg and non veg thalis, momos, golgappe. The only thing that was good was golgappe and kheer. Non veg thali comes with chilli fish (fish tastes stale) , butter chicken was full of tomato curry without any other taste in it and naan was undercooked. Momoos were not steamed properly and chicken filling was stale. We spend alot and didn’t enjoy our dinner at all. Only the ambience of the restaurant was nice. UPDATE: not only the reply is rude, we’re not the first people who had bad experience, we tried to give you guys a second chance and it’s VERY disappointing to see how less you care about customers feedback. Instead of improving your quality of food, what you did with the momos that we returned, you toss it in chilli sauce and bring the same momos back so that you can charge us. When we gave the feedback about the dessert that the milk that you guys used to make it has gone bad, you tried to tell us that it was made fresh, we’re from India and knows how freshly made food tastes. You guys should have the guts to take an honest feedback from your own community instead of expecting everyone to fake it. We don’t think it was fair to charge someone for something who had the same issue twice and we didn’t ask for replacement. Not only that you try to gave us rice pudding that nobody was eating from the buffet to make up for the experience when we were already done. NO Thanks. We hope you’ll improve the quality of food that way you don’t have to offer alternatives over and over because that isn’t profitable for...
Read moreAt the end of February my husband and I decided to try out Taste of Spice. We ordered the chili paneer, samosa chatt, vegetarian momo, chicken korma and some garlic naan. To begin on a positive note, we were welcomed in with enthusiasm and kindness and the garlic naan was absolutely delicious. By far the best I've had in Canada. The samosa chatt was also good (by Canadian standards at least) and I found the portion sizes of all dishes to be reasonable. However, I found that the chicken korma, usually a nutty and rich dish was lacking in flavour, and the chicken itself had an odd taste. This could be from how it was cooked, but it did not seem fresh and was not up to the standards I would expect from a luxury restaurant. My husband was disappointed in the vegetarian momo, as it was very doughy and lacking in flavour. I do know that Indian momo is different from Nepali momo which we are both used to, so this could be the reasoning why it was quite different and why he didn’t enjoy the dish. Chili paneer is one of our favorite dishes and the flavour was good, but some pieces of paneer were soft, and others seemed dry, which is odd. Usually, paneer is quite soft when it is cooked fresh. Lastly, after our food was served, no one came to see how the food was, and we had to flag someone down for the bill before we left. I'm also not personally a fan of slot machines and found that aspect of the restaurant made the experience...
Read moreGood tasting food but unfortunately it's a bit overpriced for what it actually is. Service left a lot to be desired. We were only customers in the restaurant and had to ask server to come back for drinks several times and had to ask about the drink we ordered at the start of the meal 20 minutes later. Not luxury/fine dining but, ok food. We would definitely return if the buffet was priced better than $27 per person.
Reply to owner's reply: It was not a tea that we had to wait for so, no need to describe the process of a drink we didn't order. We simply ordered a Tom collins cocktail from your special Friday list. The server forgot to make it then we had to inquire about it again. We came in on Friday at around 6pm and we were 1 of 2 tables with the other table leaving shortly after we got our meals. The buffet was barely stocked. I was being relatively polite with my previous review with maybe some constructive feedback. I don't think you need to actively dissuade people from coming in by replying and challenging everyone on what they ordered. Take some feedback into consideration and try to improve.
For reference the other Indian restaurant in portage, has about the same number of items in their buffet and tastes quite close if not better at half the price.
Will be hesitant to...
