Sushi97 — Restaurant in Prince George

Awful service, and inauthentic tasting, expensive food. I have tried to give this restaurant chance after chance over the last couple of years due to the raving reviews but whether I eat in or get takeout, I am always left disappointed. When I order to go, I NEVER get utensils, soy sauce or napkins; it is as if they try to skimp on these things. I have mentioned it each time I have placed an order and it doesn't seem to matter to them. Most recently I had phoned in and was met with possibly one of my most frustrating experiences with a server. They usually seem quite cold overall but this individual would not stop to listen and was talking over me when I was trying to express important details. I was left feeling very frustrated, which is not often as I am typically very empathic. My food has usually been hit or miss... But with my last few orders I've found consistency in that I have found myself not being able to finish my food and just giving it to my dog instead. Unfortunately, the California Rolls also occasionally taste like they've been cross contaminated with other foods... Which can leave a fairly putrid taste in the mouth. Unfortunately we just don't have the best Japanese food here in PG, and this place is...

So, we ended up here because our usual sushi spot was closed. Maybe that's why I'm being a bit harsh, but...

We got takeout, so I can't really judge the service or the atmosphere. The food was ready when they said it would be, and the people were friendly enough when I picked it up.

But the food itself was just...meh. We ordered a California Roll, a Mango Roll, and a Spicy Roll.

The Mango Roll was the weirdest. The mango chunks were huge, and there were these big wedges of cream cheese. I mean, it was as advertised, but it was just way too much. It was like eating a cream cheese sandwich with a side of mango. They could definitely save money and make it taste better by using less cream cheese and mango slices over chunks

The California Roll was also kind of a let down. The filling was really wet with this sauce they used, and it just tasted bland. It was okay, but for the price, I expected better.

The Spicy Roll was just...fine. Nothing special.

Overall, I was pretty disappointed. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything to write home about either. I wouldn't not recommend it, but it wouldn't be my first...

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while, but it’s mostly takeout. I now understand why, they seem to have transitioned after Covid to maintain a takeout focus with 10% off take out orders advertised, and lots of delivery drivers coming and going. I needed to dine in, there is a small corner in the waiting area with stools and a small wall bar table to seat 2 and 2 people. But you are staring at the wall and right by the main entrance, it’s a little awkward. And the main hostess is dealing with pickup orders, phones and delivery drivers so there’s not really any “server” to look after you. So no tea, no checking in on the meal. I got a roll and spicy agedashi tofu, it wasn’t bad but not great. I would try more of the menu to really get a full judgement but overall not my favourite place...
