Yamamoto Sushi is a pretty cool place that everyone in PG should check out. The food was good quality. You scan a code at your table and order from your phone. There are two seperate codes to scan, ie two different menus, depending on what food you want. One is sushi, Japanese style and chinese style food and the other is "Korean" BBQ. I didn't see much for real Korean food but it's Korean BBQ in the sense that you get to cook food at your table. My favorite was the bar of different sauces you could serve yourself.
There were some issues when we went though.
The waitress was sweet but didn't help us out much on how to order, despite us telling her it was our first time and that we needed help. We asked to do the table BBQ thing but we ended up accidentally ordering food not meant for the BBQ. The lady who brought the food was cold and didn't care at all about the mix up and made no effort to resolve the issue. The nice waitress who took our order we didn't see again until we paid and noone came by to ask if we wanted anything the rest of the night. It looked like she was the only waitress for the whole restaurant on a Saturday night. Crazy. They use the fact that you can order from your phone as a crutch to not offer much service.
The BBQ was not hot enough to brown any of the food. It only warmed the meat until cooked enough to eat.
Despite this we will probably give them another chance because it is a unique experience for a small northern community like PG and I'm...
Read moreThe Yamamoto restaurant located in College Heights is a unique culinary experience that stands out amidst a sea of familiar options. They offer Hot Pot and Grilling at your table, which is a concept unique to PG. From the sizzling grill to the simmering hot pot, every bite bursts with flavor and freshness. Not only does the menu offer the basics, but it also provides options for those who want to venture away from the usual. Adding to the experience is the attentive service by Semya (sp), who elevates the dining experience to new heights. Moreover, the personal touch of the owner coming to our table to ensure our satisfaction was genuinely exceptional. If you're seeking a break from the ordinary and craving a culinary adventure, look no further than this hidden gem. It's a delightful departure from the mundane, promising an unforgettable dining experience that will leave you...
Read moreThe food was really good and prepared nicely however getting the food was challenging and unwelcoming. While we were there for lunch there was one other table in our section. This is a very new and big building with a lot of echo. There was no music, no attempt at atmosphere. We were speaking very quietly because no music and the other table was having a conversation too, as you do while eating. You have to order through a QR code menu and you have a button to summon someone if you need anything. All of this comes together to make a really strange dining experience. I hope that they can work out these kinks because the food is amazing and fairly priced. I want to tip you for good service but don’t expect a tip when I have to do the service. This is the first time in my life where I didn’t feel welcome eating somewhere and I hope that improves. I hope to...
