During my recent visit to Café La Maison Smith in Quebec City, I was absolutely delighted by the culinary experience. This vibrant and trendy café, with its enticing aroma of freshly brewed coffee, offers a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that instantly draws you in. What made the visit even more special was the dog-friendly patio, where my dog Lucky could join us.
The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the hot chocolate. I’ve had my fair share of hot chocolates, but this one stands out as the best ever. It's perfectly sweet and creamy, without that watered-down taste that you often get elsewhere. Each sip was a comforting embrace of rich, velvety chocolate.
We also sampled a variety of pastries, starting with the chocolate croissant. It was just right—not overly sweet and filled with a generous amount of chocolate that made each bite heavenly. The croissant itself was flaky and buttery, adding to the overall satisfaction.
The star of the show, however, was the choco framboise pastry. This delightful treat offered a subtle strawberry flavor that was perfectly balanced with the rich chocolate. The pastry was wonderfully flaky and soft, making it a textural delight with every bite. It was an exquisite combination of flavors that left a lasting impression.
In addition to the outstanding food and drinks, the staff were friendly and attentive, enhancing the overall experience. Whether you’re a local or a visitor to Quebec City, Café La Maison Smith is a must-visit spot for anyone who appreciates quality pastries, exceptional hot chocolate, and a welcoming atmosphere. I can't wait to return for another round of these...

As was requested by the owner, I am expanding on my review.
As stated above, the facility is cute and well maintained (clean). The issues I had were staff members who seemed uninterested in providing any type of assistance. My thirteen year old daughter had a few questions on the macaroons (she has visited and consumed these from around the globe), and the counter person refused to answer her. I had to finally ask myself with a slightly elevated voice.
The presentation was terrible. They were tossed in a box with no care at all. Half were ruined.
While paying, I had to grab my wallet from my wife, and they were grumbling even though I was the only person in line.
Overall, it is not worth the time to stop in as Quebec City has many more family-friendly shops to pop in for to grab snacks. Though if you're in Quebec seeking that Parisian rudeness Paris is famous for - this...
Read moreVisiting from Toronto. My first experience at Smith café in St.Jean & the other location in the village.
Went at around 8 am to have coffee and croissant 🥐 and it did not disappoint. The service was 'impeccable' Very busy already at that time. The lady who helped us ' young blond hair' responded in English when she realized we're trying to speak French with difficulty 🫣, she was very nice and friendly, she offered to heat up the croissant. The cafe vibe was so beautiful, the decor, the details, everything so charming! We stayed in Quebec city for 2 nights. The only mistake we did was that we didn't go their the first day. We tried a well known bakery establishment on the same street. And it was very disappointing. Overrated I think.
So happy we were able to discover Smith cafe in 2 locations on our last day we stayed there.
Will be only going only to La Maison Smith when we visit Quebec...
