LOVE....LOVE HOTEL DU VIEUX - QUEBEC!
This review is for our second stay at Hotel du Vieux- Quebec from 8/4/19-8/10/19. Our last stay at Hotel du Vieux in the summer of 2017.
We stayed at Hotel du Vieux Quebec from 8/4/19-8/10/19 and we cannot say enough about how fantastic of an experience we had staying again at Hotel du Vieux Quebec ! I am a very picky and selective customer and Hotel du Vieux and all of its offerings exceeded all my expectations!!!!
First, the location of Hotel de Vieux Quebec is perfect! It is located in the heart of downtown old Quebec City and it is literally within a 10-15 minute walk of everything including great shops and restaurants, major landmarks such as the Dufferin Terrace, Citadel, Lower Quebec with its famous rue de Petit Champlain shopping area, St. Lawrence River and cruises and much more!
Secondly, Hotel du Vieux has a lot of character. It is where modern and contemporary décor meets the warmth of "French" countryside as evidenced by the exposed stone walls in throughout the hotel. There is a beautiful common area/room where fruits, coffee, board games, books and other reading materials, public computers etc. are available for use at no extra cost. It is a very beautiful and pleasant room!
We stayed in a superior 2 queen room (room #203) and it was very clean and inviting. The beds are very comfortable and our room was very quiet. The décor is modern with a touch of "French" countryside feel also in our room due to the beautidul exposed stone wall. The bathroom was also very clean! There are closets with a refridgerator and safe in one of the closets. Plenty of natural lights as well as lights for us to use if needed.
As if that's not enough, every morning, a delicious picnic basket of breakfast was delivered to our room and included orange juices, croissants, yogurt, cheese and fruits, all inclusive with our reservation which was made directly with Hotel du Vieux. You have the option of selecting additional type(s) of breakfast if you so desire. The fresh fruits come from Hotel du Vieux Quebec's very own garden! It is an environmentally friendly hotel!
Lastly, the staff at Hotel du Vieux Quebec is very professional, knowledgeable, courteous and accommodating! We always felt that they always went out of their way to please all of their guests....a very good and special feeling!
There were three of us, one adult and two teenage boys and we loved our time of Hotel du Vieux Quebec! The boys selected a movie from the DVD collection from Hotel du Vieux Quebec and Hotel du Vieux Quebec's staff made popcorn and hot cocoa for them! Amazing!
We plan to stay at only Hotel du Vieux Quebec again when we return to Quebec City! I guarantee that you will enjoy your stay at this very special hotel! Do not waste your time looking for any other place and this comes from a very picky and selective customer who is accustomed to staying in 4-5 star hotels.

Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel du Vieux Quebec, a unique establishment nestled in the heart of Old Quebec. The hotel exudes a distinctive charm and an aura of history that blends seamlessly with modern comforts and conveniences, ensuring a stay that's both memorable and relaxing.
Upon arrival, my attention was immediately drawn to the intricate architectural details of this historic hotel, reminiscent of Quebec's rich past. Yet, it was the warm, welcoming staff that truly set the tone for the duration of my stay. From the reception to the housekeeping team, every member of the staff was attentive, professional, and genuinely friendly. They went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction, often anticipating my needs before I even had to ask.
The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-maintained, with plush bedding and modern bathrooms. The decor tastefully combined elements of Old Quebec's character with contemporary touches, creating a delightful blend of past and present.
What really stood out was the lounge area. This cozy space was the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring Quebec City. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with comfortable seating and a wide range of books and board games to enjoy. Complimentary hot beverages were a thoughtful touch, adding to the overall homely feel.
The hotel's location couldn't be more perfect. Situated in the heart of Old Quebec, it was just a stone's throw away from some of the city's most renowned attractions, such as the Château Frontenac and the Quartier Petit Champlain. Numerous quaint shops, local cafes, and gourmet restaurants were within walking distance, making it easy to fully immerse in the local culture.
The Hotel du Vieux Quebec managed to provide a true Quebecois experience through their dedicated service, comfortable accommodations, and an unbeatable location. I can confidently say that this was one of the best hotel experiences I've had to date, and I eagerly look forward to my next visit.

Read moreWe stayed here 15 years ago and always talked about coming back. This time we came back for five nights. The hotel has the perfect location. You can walk to everything from here. We stayed in room 113. You would think it’s the first floor, but it’s really the second floor. If you look at the hotel and see the center window we were to the right of that. The first time we stayed here was right where the center window is. I’m so glad we got the front of the building again. We had a king size bed. It was very comfortable. You can walk up the stairs or you could take the elevator. Our room was very clean when we arrived. There is a latte, cappuccino, coffee machine in the lounge for your availability in the morning. The lattes and the cappuccinos were excellent. There is also a bowl of fruit. Everyone at the front desk has been more than friendly and very helpful when we needed them. Everyone also speaks English for any of you coming from the United States. I wish I knew more French Canadian. The room contains a refrigerator, a coffee machine and a hot water kettle for you to make tea. There are also two bottles of water and when you empty them, they are replaced the next morning. There is a restaurant in the level you walk in from the street. We went there one night for dinner and it was very good. If you exit the hotel and take a left and then take another left on the little side street and follow it down there’s easy access to the lower part of town. If you exit the hotel and take a right, there are plenty of restaurants right up the street. We felt safe the entire time we were here. We usually had dinner anywhere from 7 PM or 8 PM every night. After dinner, we would walk for anywhere from one to two hours and probably come back between 9 and 10 o’clock at night. We did not have to exchange any money or take any cash out of an ATM. We used our credit cards for everything in town. We did want to ride the funicular, but they required cash. It was 6 dollars Canadian but the attendant also said we could use 6 dollars American but we passed it up. Like I said in the beginning this hotel is at the center of everything in old town Quebec City....
