We have been visiting Quebec City from Ontario for the past week. We have eaten at various restaurants in the old city and understand that everything is a little more expensive because you aren’t only paying for the unique food but also the overall ambience of this beautiful city. Despite the price, most restaurants are very busy and reservations are recommended especially on weekends. It was Saturday and the last night of our trip. We lost track of time and realized we didn’t make any dinner reservations, so at around 5 my husband called your restaurant and asked if we needed a reservation. The young lady on the phone said that the restaurant was “full” for the evening. My husband persisted and asked if it would be possible to walk in and wait for a table and she said fine. We arrived at around 5:15 and were told by the hostess that we are full. My husband told her we had called and asked if we could wait and were told yes, she went to ask and reluctantly agreed. The hostess said the wait would be about 20 minutes and we had no problem with that. As we were waiting we watched many people walking in the door looking for a table only to be told that they were “full”. From where we were standing the restaurant was pretty empty. There were two large tables right by the door that must have been reserved but remained empty the entire 20 minutes we were waiting. When our table was ready we were taken to the basement area of the restaurant where we saw numerous empty tables. I was confused because the servers had sent so many customers away saying the restaurant was full. I was shocked because they had turned away so much business. We waited at our table while many servers walked past us not taking a drink order or even acknowledging us. From our table we could see into the kitchen where we observed 2 chefs with large beards that had no beard guards. At this point we were really disgusted and decided we would just leave. We left the restaurant without being served so this review is not about the food just the terrible service. My biggest concern was the amount of empty tables while people were being sent away at the door. If I was the owner of this establishment I would be very concerned because no one should be turned away on the busiest night...
Read moreUsually St. Patrick’s for me is a 4 star and we go back every summer. Yesterday was a completely different experience. Our server came over once to take our order and didn’t come back again until she wanted us to clear the tab because she was going off shift. We received our drinks (but not the water we asked for) and a very small shareable that was of course delicious. We told her we didn’t get the rest of the food which was simply an order of wings and french onion soup. My husband was going to pay the bill anyway to help her out (That is a different domestic argument.) but was having issues with the payment machine. The new server came over and said no you shouldn’t be paying and he hadn’t been told we didn’t receive our food. He brought us another round of drinks on request. I could also see him standing at the kitchen waiting for our food to come out. About 20 minutes later (70 minutes after we initially ordered) I was getting light headed and hangry so we asked him to just bring the bill we were leaving as we had to actually go and get something to eat. Our first waitress came over again asked if we had gotten anything to eat (so she could figure out the bill). She had given lots of excuses on it being busy (I have been there when it was busier) and change of shift. I get that. But that would be a 30 minute wait for food and eventually it would come. It was the lack of attention and zero thought/compensation to us...
Read moreArrived late in Quebec City and was hungry. Stop that this Pub. The food was not good the nachos were soaked in spaghetti sauce, and nothing looks like it does on the website. When the bill came I told the waiter that I would have to pay him in US dollars since the exchange was closed and could he help me figure that out. Well he certainly did the bill came to $90 CAD he told me give him $100 and he'll give me the change. When an actuality the bill was 66.00 and I gave him a $20 tip thinking that it was $90. He's finagled a $67 tip. He even took a picture with us he was so happy we had been there all of 30 minutes and even though it's up to me to know the exchange he spoke English and I thought maybe I could trust him, big mistake. The food was substandard, the waiter was fine and happy and he should have been he was tipped very well. However this leaves a bad taste in our mouths so I'm going to make sure that my review is heard to all Americans going here not to trust the waiters. We traveled many places and after driving 13 hours I guess it was our fault. The music was so loud we could barely hear we had to sit by a speaker because they closed the outside. So St Patrick's Pub has now been critiqued by the blue collar critic. Stay tuned for more reviews from Quebec. Shame on the waiter at St Patrick's to...
