This was one of the first restaurants my girlfriend and I stopped at for dinner while we visited Quebec City. We noticed they had churros, which was mainly why we went. We got a seat on the inside, and the aesthetic was lovely! Lots of wood, welcoming vibes. Loud, but most pubs are. We decided to order their massive nachos for dinner to share.
Though the food was expensive, the nachos WERE pretty big. It fed both of us well, so ultimately we didn’t actually spend an astronomical amount of money once we split the bill. And I will say, the nachos were fantastic! Super juicy, with a really nice seasoning on all the chips. Like, they were REALLY good. If I go again, I’ll probably get the same thing. The churros were also really great too, and came with a nice chocolate pudding. I have no qualms with the food, other than the price - but that entire street is pretty expensive.
Mainly, what made me not give 5 stars is the person who served us. He seemed like he did not want to be there, which… I get, since I’ve worked at cafés, but it was really obvious. When I asked for a water, he just turned and walked away without saying a word. He never really stopped by to ask how things were. It was very difficult to get his attention for the bill. It was busy the day we were there, but primarily he was inside the pub, and there weren’t many customers within with us. My girlfriend and I chuckled over how disinterested he seemed, but at some points he was even a bit rude - which tainted my experience a bit.
So, all in all, would I go again? Maybe, but there are many other restaurants on the same street I’d rather go to. This pub IS very pricey, and we got better service (and more food) for our money elsewhere. But I can’t say I hated it. I would definitely come with someone if they asked me to go there. It’s just not...
Read moreMy family and I decided to take a mini vacation to Quebec. We are from New York originally. We were walking by this restaurant and heard live Blues music and decided to have dinner here. That was NOT the best idea we had. My experience was horrible! We waited roughly 10-15 minutes until someone greeted our table. Our drink order and appetizer order was finally taken. A different server then took our food order. A different one then brought our drinks and appetizers. Then another server took our food order and we waited forever for the food. It wasn't even that great that it should have taken them so long to make. My son-in-law then asked for another drink and I asked for water. Neither of us got our drinks. The original server (from the beginning) then brought our check without the drinks. I asked him again for a water which he finally went and got. He came back and was watching us fill out the check with the tip portion. None of us felt that he deserved a tip since he did not provide us good service or do anything for us. He told us we have to leave him a certain amount. We still decided not to and left the restaurant. At that point he ran out after us on the street and was yelling at us as to why we didn't tip. I told him that I tip very well, which I do when it's great service. I told him what the problem was and he continued to yell at us and make a scene. Maybe if you took care of your customers, you would deserve to get a tip! I have never been so appalled before in my life at a restaurant. Please do not give your patronage to such a horrible place. I promise you will not be satisfied and you will leave unhappy!
P.S. There was a table next to us that was French speaking and got excellent service the entire time. I don't understand how this is...
Read moreVery unfortunate experience at this pub. It was the day after Christmas so I assume they were short staffed, which could provide some explanation.
Firstly, we ordered food and beer at the same time. It took approx. 25 minutes for the beers to arrive at our table, after asking the waiter where they were two times. Apparently there was only one person allowed to pour the beer and other tasks were priority, such as takeout. You would think a pub could at the very least get beers poured and in front of customers quickly.
Then, once the food arrived at the table, one of the orders was missing. The waiter let us know that one of the dishes we ordered was not available. so everyone got their food besides one person who got to watch everyone else eat. I don't know why the waiter couldn't have told us earlier, like when the order was entered at the kitchen.
Food-wise, the French onion soup was a massive disappointment. I would not recommend ordering this. No cheese on too, just two big pieces of bread bobbing.
Similarly, the namesake burger (most expensive) was missing all the add ons, and just had cheese. We probably should have been charged for a cheaper burger in this case but that didn't happen. Apparently the fish and chips were good.
Very tiny bathroom with only one stall for women which resulted in some long bathroom waits for a quite unclean bathroom.
We left with many apologies from a very embarrassed waiter and a very bad taste in our mouths. It was honestly one of the worst experiences I had in a restaurant in...
