What do say to someone who tells you that 'if you've been one steakhouse, you've been to pretty much all'? Well, without hesitation you may want to tell them about a literal treasure tucked neatly in the corner on the second floor of the brand new wing of Playground. It's called ETC. and it brings the notions of elegance, trend, class, and pure taste together as one.
Yes! A steakhouse is just that....A great place for steak! ...and yes! ETC checks this box neatly, bringing various choice cuts of meats (from dry aged to Wagyu marbling, to tender traditionals) to life.
However, This is where the fun part of the review begins. The part that differentiates ETC from other big name steakhouses that this city has to offer. My compliments to Chef Hisham for innovating a menu that is simple yet divine in gastronomic appeal. Signature dishes include the likes of Grilled Cheese Bruschetta, Caesar Salad unlike any you've tasted, thick cut candied bacon, seared foie gras, and a dessert menu that will tug at all your senses (ask for the tiramisu stare in amazement as it is being served).
ETC brandishes dishes that range from the sublime to the insanely imaginative. However, the reason I was truly inspired to write this review was when my incredible bartender Sabrina suggested something "out of the box". Next thing you know, I order up the DEMI CHICKEN. To say I was pleasantly surprised is a complete understatement. This chicken recipe is something EVERYONE should try once. It's decadence lies in the manner its cooked, spiced to perfection with an addictive crispy char, and a succulent juicy tenderness (See Photo). Complimented by a Mediterranean garlic-lime-cilantro based yogurt that will have you licking the plate. I was so stoked at how delicious my meal was, I couldn't wait to share it with you.
The kicker is this steakhouse is reasonable in price (and even more reasonable without taxes). You're not just in for a treat at ETC, you are in for...
Read moreVery disappointment. Service was extremely slow. It took over an hour for them to take our food order. Water wasn’t served automatically at our table even though our waiter took our drinks orders, we had to ask the runner. Drinks took forever to come.
Ordered hanger steak ( it’s the tiniest steak I’ve had for the price $35) asked for medium rare and it came well done (hard as a rock) , brought it to my waiters attention and I think the manager came to see me and gave me an excuse to because of the marinate the very tiny hanger steak cannot be cooked medium rare. Which we all know that’s not true . He was just giving a BS excuse. He then offered to replace it with something else . So I did.
All main courses (steak) do not come with any sides. All sides are extra . Any steak you order go for $50 and over and that’s only for the steak. ANY side is extra $$$, You need to order your veggies, your mash potatoes, fries or baked potatoes etc as extra (between $10-23 more). Sauces for steaks is also extra. Nothing comes included with the price of a main course.
For a fancy steak house, I don’t know why the sides are not included on the price of main course. As well, for a fancy steak house service was bad/slow and overpriced.
Decided to surprised my partner for her birthday to a nice fancy supper with friends at ETC.. and I regret it. Would not return...
Read moreThis review is strange as we were exposed to many things last evening. You are sitting in a restaurant housed in a casino that is far from Las Vegas. The crowd in the casino resembled Atlantic city but the restaurant itself was nicely decorated. The points lost were because of the incredibly amount of noise you had to deal with. Dinner was not quiet!!! Lost my voice just trying to talk to the others at my table. This was compounded by a terribly placed band that was playing live music just outside the glass walls of the resto. Who decided that this location was a good idea??? Our waiter wasn’t great but the other staff tried to pick up the slack. The Manager James sensed we were not pleased and was a gentleman and stepped in to make things right. Who stood out was also the busman Michael who should be made a waiter instantly. So attentive and kind. So besides the crazy loud environment and an "interesting" crowd inside and outside the restaurant, the food was delicious. I shared the wedge salad which was delicious and had the 12oz prime New York strip. Probably the best steak I’ve had in a long while. It came exactly as requested medium rare and was truly delicious. Fries were also crispy and plentiful but was off put by the cumin spice dashed on them. Make sure you tell them if you aren’t a fan like our whole table. Would go back but on a...
