Place looks real nice, but thats really where it ends. Waitress didnt know how to pronounce their menu items. Chips were just cold and semi-stale, the guacamole was made from some un-ripe avocados and you can definitely taste it. The flautas are really amazing, extremely expensive at almost $5 a piece, especially considering they are completely uniform in length, diameter, and wrapping, so they are store-bought.
The re-fried beans were soupy, and are just plain canned refried beans, no real taste to it. The rice has a nice colour too it, which usually you get from turmeric, of which none can be tasted at all. Very little seasoning and just tastes like uncle bens, and most likely is.
When it came to the prawns and steak, the steak was dry, but decent, just fried in butter with nothing but salt and black pepper, no life to it. Same with the prawns, really nothing special.
My wife ordered the tampiquena, which had absolutely no veggies, no caramelized onions or strips of poblano peppers, no cheese with it, and rather than a long cut filet, was simply the identical steak to mine. Also dry, and was cooked well, not medium rare.
If it was 10-15 a plate, it wouldnt be a terrible price for what you get. But at 25+ a plate, it's not worth it at all. Red deer has MUCH better options for latin...
Read moreWe were quite disappointed with our recent dining experience at Las Palmeras. While we had high expectations based on positive reviews, our meal fell significantly short. The presentation of the dishes was unappealing, with food seemingly haphazardly plated. The taste of the enchiladas and the blandness of the rice and beans were unexpected and underwhelming. The blackened salmon, though edible, lacked the flavor profile we anticipated. The service was equally disappointing. Long wait times, a lack of attentiveness from the server, and the sight of uncleared tables detracted from the overall dining experience. The only excuse, was that you were previously experiencing a rush but there were not many people inside when we entered and the servers were pretty relaxed. Inside vibe was authentic and pleasant and is the only nice thing experienced.
Unfortunately, the aftermath of our meal has been quite unpleasant, with both of us experiencing food poisoning. We believe that the restaurant's original vision and recipes hold potential, but our experience suggests a significant deviation from those standards. We hope that future diners will be aware of this discrepancy and manage their expectations...
Read moreVery disappointed we’ve been here several times in the past year
as we can get to actual Mexican as we always go to Arizona for Winters, the food was piping hot as you would get like in Casa grande Arizona cafe Emanuel best restaurant and the the prices cheaper buy a long shot, and The food was immaculate. Unlike her experience it’s a Mexican restaurant in red deer.the last Time, went to today for our anniversary 40th, the wife’s chicken breast was served with the skin on the bottom, which is a layer of fat you cannot serve people this meal and have not accepted a chicken breast as a chicken breast is not serve the layer fat and we’ve ate it before and never had the skin on the bottom of a chicken breast. The Mexican server argued with us and insisted is that as how it comes well in my world and as we eaten there before twice, the chicken breast did not have a layer of fat and or skin on the bottom side of it he argued that is how it’s done of course no tip with the $74 meal very disappointed and I will repeat this to...
