My recent visit to Ricky's (901-6702 Golden W Ave) left me with mixed feelings, primarily due to a stark contrast between the good service provided by our waitress (Lauren L) and the underwhelming dining experience overall. Approx. 4 tables were occupied at the time we were dining. The only positive was our waitress and the exit door, our initial plan was to visit another restaurant in the same parking area. Due to a very busy restaurant, we decided to give Ricky's a shot, but boy were we wrong in making that decision.
We were seated instantly, and drinks were quick but the pop was flat with no fizz. No big deal it was still very drinkable, we placed our order. After making a small substitution on a dish that I agreed to pay full price for, she quickly returned to tell me I was not allowed soup with my dinner and had to take the coleslaw or remove it. Seems odd but the person who I assume to be the manager had an unpleasant look on his face with his arms crossed for the entire time we were dining this later made sense with the overall experience.
The food arrived, $66.28 before tip. Starter: Chicken strips (chewy but extremely hot, the gravy tasted like ravioli. This is not gravy - Picture attached) Main course: Fish n Chips x2 (Fries were bland but okay, the fish was dripping with grease and tasted like the fryer)
In terms of value for money, the prices seemed unjustifiably high given the quality of the food. We left the restaurant feeling unsatisfied and questioning the decision to spend our evening there.
I am very understanding that restaurants have off nights, but you can tell this is a regular occurrence judging by the other reviews. I will never set foot in this restaurant again and will not be recommending this place to anyone. I hope for the sake of the employees trying that management takes some of the recent reviews and reflects or I see a "Closed" sign staying up...
Read moreMy wife and I ordered breakfast at 12:15 pm and then waited over 45-50 minutes for cold food. When we initially ordered, the server brought my wife a water, but for some reason, neglected to bring me one. The group of 10 next to us ordered and received their food intermittently and three of them actually got up and walked out. They said they’d been waiting 45-50 minutes as and everyone else at the table had already finished eating. During the entire time we sat waiting for our cold food, the waitress did not even come to the table and only brought one meal out to a single table. At 1:25 we finally asked another server to bring us waters and the bill and needless to say, we will not be returning to this restaurant in the future. We’d recommend steering clear and picking another location. Lastly, we choose Ricky’s Restaurants often, and have never encountered this lack of service and...
