First time going to this place after having several people recommend it.
To start the gentleman who served us was very friendly, polite and worked reasonably quick considering he was working solo.
The restaurant was clean and has a decent environment.
I ordered the Halibut 1-piece with fries, coleslaw and gravy. I opted for most expensive fish as it came recommended to me by several people
Fish: batter was reasonably thin making it crispy but not hard, grease level easily tolerable, sadly the batter didn't have any amazing flavor, the filet was an okay cut, okay flavor, but even with lemon I couldn't justify it being great. Paired it with the tartar sauce which wasn't as lemony or zingy as I hoped. It was a decently thick sauce so it coated the fish well.
Fries: if you like soft fries these ones are okay, my husband enjoyed them, I don't mind soft fries but they didn't taste seasoned and the gravy I paired them with was a bit too watery and wasn't strong in flavor.
The coleslaw was under dressed. The vegetables used were fresh and not bitter but did not have the classic coleslaw flavor you hope for with fish and chips. I didn't enjoy this.
I paid $53 for two meals and mac and cheese balls (so-so In taste) which I felt was a pretty steep price for underwhelming fish and chips with small portions sizes.
I'm glad people enjoy this place, but it's not for me and isn't somewhere I'll go again. I ate about half my meal to give it a good try before I remembered to...
Read moreWill leave review as I always read them and should have listened to the negative ones. Yuck. We went here today to try it out. Paid $19.99 for 2 piece halibut and $21.99 for 2 piece pickeral. Fish ..... tastless fish with tasteless chewy batter. Can get better in the frozen box fish section at Superstore. Fries...they look all Homemade in the photos but the 20 you get are cold, tasteless and chewy. Coleslaw ..... tastless and only 1 tablespoon full with each meal Tartar ..... sharp and vinegary and you also get only a tablespoon with each 2 piece order.
I know there are alot of reviews on here and hard to decipher. If you want a tastless chewy meal I would recommend this place
If you want some good battered crispy outside, flaky inside fish and some fresh cut deep fried chips definitely go somewhere else!!!
I hope more people write reviews if they have tasted this ( well....tasted is an overstatement) as it will save someone else wasting their hard earned money on a meal that I would fate zero stars on...
Read moreNew fish and chips restaurant in Regina.
Went there for late lunch and ordered Cod Fish and chips, Broccoli Cheese bits and cup of Black Forest cake.
We didn’t like fish and chips. It was way too oily and seems over fried and Color was almost brown rather then golden.
This place had restaurant by name of Eat on Wheels. Fin city didn’t made any changes except removing bicycles from there. Rest is unchanged which is not too bad but there is no uniqueness to new restaurant like what to see at Mary Browns Chicken and Joyes.
Other items we ordered was just about ok. We wish new business best of luck and went there to support them.
They are competing with Joyes Fish Shack which is not going to be easy, they must either lower the price or match...
