Great food! Spices of Punjab is a fairly well spaced restaurant in the mid East end of Regina, Saskatchewan on 320 Victoria Ave . If you need a landmark to know your there it is across the street from jiffy lube and next to pc place. It is in the old kountry kitchen building. When you first walk in it feels a little rustic as there are still designs from the old KK but you are soon complimented with a number a tasteful ethnic paintings and photos. There is Indian music in the background but it is kept at a conversational low as to not overwhelm the taste of even the most uninspired music critic. In front as you walk in you are first greeted with a smile and you can see everything that awaits your taste buds. It would seem as always, butter chicken is a standard but there are several more dishes to chose from and perhaps one of the larger if not largest selection for an Indian buffet in Regina. Of course they have sweet and green salad dishes to go along with it but if you go back there a few times you will be happy to discover they rotate dishes daily. Something most other places do not do. My favourite being Friday as they serve goat that day. For religious and or cultural reasons it's difficult to find a beef dish at most Indian Buffets but not here. I have been here several times and except for today (Friday/goat day) there is usually always a beef dish. The food is extremely authentic as their butterchicken is made with butter and not all creme. The spices are imho medium but that's for the typically spicy dishes as the typical non spicy dishes are as expected. Now, let's talk tandoori chicken. As most places do offer tandoori chicken but are typically stingy about it. They have usually two people walking around checking up on you and delivering tandoori chicken all the time. These folks unlike most places are not stingy at all with the chicken and I do feel if I wanted I could have as many pieces as I wanted. Now, believe me this chicken is the best ever. It is charred in the most perfect way and the tandoori massala is through to the bone. The chicken is not to dry nor is it to wet. When i asked about the cooking process the manager explained that they were very proud of their process as they use a large tandoori clay oven fueled with natural charcoal and believe me, it makes one heck of a difference. If you like the non meat dishes like ones with paneer or perhaps a samosis, you will be pleased to know they are full of what makes each of them special like a whole lot of goat cheese and for the vegetable samosis a whole lot of vegetables and other stuff. Bathrooms are kept clean and that is even after one of the biggest dinner rushes I have seen locally. The price for this buffet is 14.99 but is well worth it as I am stingy as heck Lol. Please. If you feel the need for something different tonight or even just want some quality Indian food. I would come here. The choice...
Read moreCompany does not care about customer being happy, they use skip the dishes for there delivery service due to there ads. If your food goes missing they just blame the courier and do nothing. They should not be using a company just to advertise and increase business without really caring about the service the customer is receiving. I was also told that other orders have went missing from staff, so that there tells you about how much they care. Stay away.
I just got a response by owner, just wanted to validate i was the one who spoke to skip the dishes to get refund. So once again i will repeat myself, you used a courier service that failed to deliver and ruined a family get together. I think you need to do more than offer a simple apology on this. I was also told by a staff that you use skip the dishes as they promote your restaurant to help make money and that this is not the first time this has happened. So once again if you are going to use a courier based on the fact they promote your restaurant you need to take better care of your customer to make sure they actually get there food, and if they dont you should be sending out an order immediately to rectify the situation. This is twice now you have failed to rectify...
Read moreThe Worst indian restaurant I have ever been to in is Spices of Punjab on 320 Victoria Ave East, Regina, Saskatchewan.
Starting from substandard indoor with torn seats, tables to overall poor cleanliness as evidenced by the images attached. The seating, table, floor were all dirty. There was a huge number of people on the one half of the restaurant inflating balloons for a birthday party using a baloon inflator plugged in. So you can simply imagine the chaos and the quiet and peaceful ambiance inside the restaurant.
When it comes to the food, We ordered Tandoori Chicken which didn't have any flavor at all. I will rate it with -10 on review on a scale of 0 to 10.
The butter Tikka masala or the Lamb Rogan gosh ,we ordered were not even up to the basic taste. The only thing that was some what okay was the butter Naan. On top of that when you order a dish the rice or Naan doesn't come with the dish. You have to pay extra for the rice. I wouldn't have been soo disappointed if the rice was at the least cooked the right way or well enough. The rice was too dry, and only...
