Step'N Back Diner — Restaurant in Renfrew

We heard such nice things about this little diner . We were very disappointed. Had to wash my own table and seats to sit down. Milk shake was not bad , but very small . Ordered soup of the day " beef barley " mh favorite!! , it had been burnt to the pan and was not edible. We ordered dinner , spaghetti and meatsauce , our plates were full of water from the noodles , very little sauce , barley covered the noodles , was dry and tasteless. ( not enough actual red sauce) The elderly couple beside me asked me why i didn't eat my food , so i showed them , they completely agreed , then informed me they had hair in their food. Also informed us we would not be given a bill , they expect you to go to cash and pay blindly as they punch in your order without you seeing a total before hand . My husband was not pleased , they also do not offer an itemized reciept . NEVER AGAIN The atmosphere is dingy and dirty looking . I was to nervous to attemp using the bathroom . We visited recently, my first time eating here.

I got the chicken club and was NOT disappointed. Bread perfectly toasted, crisp veggies, juicy chicken, perfect bacon. My mouth is watering again writing this review. I dont normally eat coleslaw, i dont find there are too many places that make it well. This was just the right amount of sweet and tangy. It was the first thing gone from my plate. The portion sizes are great for the price!

The staff was very friendly. Shout out to our server, Leo! You rock, man. He spoke clearly, we didnt feel rushed looking over the menu, checked in on us, brought any extras that were requested. Great service all around! :D

The decore was fantastic too. From snippets of renfrews history, 50's themed trinkets and metal signs, wall calendars, and classic cars to famous celebs from the time. With bright colours and hand painted murals on the walls, it definitely is a special place.

It is safe to say, we will be steppin back...

This establishment not only deserves credit for staying open, but for staying open with great prices & old fashioned good service that you just don't find much anywhere. It may not be the original owners of location, but I have went here since I was young a couple decades back and I have felt the same great atmosphere, great food, great service & great prices. So if you haven't tried, it's a must.
