Bareh Sefid in Richmond Hill is not just a restaurant; it's a culinary adventure that transports you straight to the heart of Persia. From the moment you step inside, the aroma of freshly baked bread and simmering lamb fills the air, creating an atmosphere of warmth and anticipation.

This establishment specializes in a traditional Persian breakfast experience centered around kaleh pacheh, a dish of slow-cooked lamb head and feet. Now, I know what you might be thinking, but trust me on this one. The lamb is baked to perfection, resulting in tender meat that falls effortlessly off the bone. The accompanying broth is rich and flavorful, a testament to hours of careful preparation. You tear off pieces of the warm, fluffy bread and soak them in the savory soup, creating a delightful interplay of textures and tastes.

The real magic happens when you add a squeeze of fresh lemon or lime and a generous helping of the Persian marinated vegetables. The tanginess cuts through the richness of the broth, while the vegetables add a vibrant burst of flavor.

And then comes the meat. A beautifully arranged platter featuring the head, feet, ears, eyes, and even the brain. Each part offers a unique taste and texture, a testament to the chef's skill in highlighting the nuances of this traditional dish. It might seem unusual to those unfamiliar with Persian cuisine, but I urge you to be adventurous. One bite, and you'll understand why this is a beloved classic.

Beyond the incredible food, Bareh Sefid excels in creating an immersive dining experience. The carefully curated music and décor evoke the charm of a peaceful Persian village, making you feel a world away from the hustle and bustle of Richmond Hill.

The service is truly exceptional. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive, always ready with a smile and eager to ensure you have a memorable experience. Their passion for sharing their culinary heritage shines through in every interaction.

Bareh Sefid is a 10 out of 10 experience. It's a must-visit for anyone looking to explore authentic Persian cuisine and enjoy truly outstanding hospitality. I can't...

About the space, I have to say that they put effort into the décor, and it has beautiful details. However, it doesn’t feel very Iranian; it has a bit of an Egyptian vibe and some elements reminiscent of southern Iran and desert regions. The wall designs don’t feature the typical Iranian motifs we are familiar with. The staff’s attitude varies greatly from one person to another. The woman who served us, for example, was very polite, well-mannered, and kind. But there were a few men there who were rude and seemed uninterested. I asked one of them for water, and he forgot to bring it. There was also a younger girl who mixed up our bill, and we almost ended up paying more—she wasn’t very focused on her job. The food quality is good; it doesn’t have an unpleasant smell and tastes delicious. The menu names are creatively and thoughtfully chosen, making the experience interesting overall. However, there are some drawbacks. For example, the sangak bread they bring with the abgoosht at the beginning is cold, not heated, and not crispy at all. Also, they don’t serve sangak with the meat itself, and the fresh bread they do bring is similar to lavash, which we didn’t like. They don’t bring extra plates, so we had to put everything on napkins. We asked for plates, but they forgot. They also charge $4 for each tea. Since we were used to Turkish restaurants or other places serving kalleh pacheh, we assumed at least one round of tea would be free—but it wasn’t, and they don’t mention this beforehand. When you first arrive, they ask, “Should we bring tea?” and you say yes, assuming it’s complimentary, but then they charge you for it. It feels like part of the service, but it’s not. In Canada and the U.S., most restaurants offer free water at the beginning, but here, they even charge for that if they bring it. The ceiling is high, so even if the place is crowded or you stay for a long time, it doesn’t feel uncomfortable. Overall, it’s worth visiting at least once if you’re craving...

I had an exceptional experience. The service was impeccable, with the staff being attentive and friendly. The restaurant’s ambiance was amazing, featuring a well-decorated, clean, and inviting environment that enhanced our overall dining experience.

The food was absolutely delicious, each dish crafted with care and bursting with flavor. A special shoutout to Del Asa, whose kind vibe, friendly attitude, and amazing smile added an additional layer of warmth to our visit. This is definitely a place I’d go again!

Updated Review:

After visiting Barreh Sefid a few more times, I’m happy to say the experience has remained consistently excellent. The service continues to be outstanding. this time, Rozhan took care of us and was just as friendly and attentive as expected. The quality of the food is still top-notch, and the flavors remain rich and satisfying.

One great update is that they’ve added Halim to the menu, which is a thoughtful addition for those who may not prefer Kalleh Pacheh. It’s nice to see the menu evolving while still maintaining the authenticity and quality that makes this place special.

On our recent visit, we went a bit later than usual, around 10 AM, and the place was quite lively and crowded. While it’s great to see it so popular, I personally enjoy a quieter setting, so I’ll likely stick to earlier visits moving forward.

Overall, Barreh Sefid continues to impress, and I’m glad to see their high standards remain unchanged over time. Highly...

If you’re a fan of freshly made Kalle Pache, this place is a must-visit. From the moment you step inside, the warm and welcoming atmosphere is matched by the friendliness of the staff, who go above and beyond to ensure you have an exceptional dining experience. The food here is nothing short of incredible—each dish is carefully prepared with attention to detail, bringing out authentic flavors that are simply mouthwatering. Despite the high-quality ingredients and preparation, the prices are surprisingly reasonable, making it a great spot for a satisfying meal without breaking the bank. One thing to note is that this restaurant is incredibly popular, and for good reason. They don’t take reservations, so be prepared to wait, especially during peak hours. Depending on when you arrive, you might find yourself waiting up to an hour for a table. That said, the wait is absolutely worth it. For anyone craving Kalle Pache or simply looking to indulge in a delicious, hearty meal, this restaurant delivers on every level. Just plan ahead and come hungry—you won’t be disappointed!

Bareh Sefid offers an exceptional dining experience, especially for those who love traditional Persian cuisine. Their kale pache is absolutely outstanding—rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The meat was tender, the broth was deeply satisfying, and the dish had an authentic taste that truly felt homemade. What made the visit even more special was the service. Anahita was amazing—she was incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive throughout our meal. She went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Her warmth and professionalism added so much to the overall experience. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy top-notch kale pache with excellent service, Bareh Sefid is the place to go. Highly recommended!

visited this place with a group of my friends to try their traditional Persian dish, Kalle Pacha, and it was really delicious. The staff were very friendly, attentive, and welcoming, and the place itself was clean, cozy, and had a nice atmosphere. The freshly baked bread was especially good, and the Halim was great too. One small thing—they served the sweet version of Halim without asking if I preferred it with or without sugar. I think it would be great if they asked customers, since some people (like me) enjoy it with salt instead of sugar. Also, both the Halim and Kalle Pacha could have been served a little hotter—they weren’t cold, but not as hot as you’d normally expect. Overall, I recommend this place!
