Hot Taste Restaurant 糊塗楼 — Restaurant in Richmond Hill

Imagine a restaurant that's exactly as its name implies, "Hot Taste Restaurant." No fluff, no extraneous adjectives! And true to its name, this Chinese restaurant is all about that. Whether it be spicy hot or piping hot dishes. We randomly stumbled upon it among the abundance of Asian food options along Hwy 7.

The signature dish that jumped out at us was the Chongqing Spicy Deep Fried Chicken. The dish came fast and furious out of the kitchen. This chicken was crisp & tender with decent seasoning under a mountain of dried chilli peppers. The only drawback was its saltiness, particularly in my first bite. It was a theme that carried itself into the remaining dishes, as northern cuisine is heavy & bold.

Pancake Filled Slice Beef was on the menu, and I couldn't say no to one of my favourite items to order albeit this one turned out to be a bit salty, as you might've guessed by now! Stir-fried Beef in a sizzling dish with black bean sauce looked impressive upon arrival in a smoke. Stewed Tofu with Tomato & Woodear Mushroom rounded out our meal as a slightly lighter vegetarian dish.

All in all, this is a good Chinese restaurant to visit when looking for spicy comfort food with an extra dash of salt. The menu remains very affordable so your tum's guaranteed to leave here feeling full if nothing else. Hot taste fitting for our frigid...

Late post from late dinner on Thrusday night with friends. First off, no one knows how to speak English here and only Mando, the staff only wanted deal with friend who fluent and gave rest of us a look when communicating amoungst ourselves when discussing the order.

Food was good and perfectly spicy which I cannot deny, but the staff and service was subpar, food took longer to arrive. Reservation at 11pm they wasn’t busy and prior already made special requests on the phone so they should have been prepared didn't need a menu.

Sichuan Homestyle cooking with hot oil infusion in chili and Sichuan peppercorns, creating a layered piquancy of all their dishes. Prices are reasonable, and could taste what care was put in each dish by the chef... only wished the waitress have the same pride in her work.

Name of the restaurant is true for the food without any mistake 🌶 🌶 🌶 as northern cuisine is heavy & bold, ao I would not recommended for those sensitive to spice and heat.

Hot Taste” is Always Great!

We’ve been to “Hot Taste” five times now, and every time has been awesome. The food is delicious, and our whole family loves it. My wife, kids, parents, and I always enjoy what we eat here.

What we like most is that the food tastes amazing, and it doesn’t cost too much. It feels like we’re eating at a fancy restaurant without having to spend a lot of money.

Sometimes, you might need to wait a little because they’re busy, especially at dinner, but they’re actually faster than I expected, which really surprised me. The people working there are nice and friendly too. That’s why I wanted to write this review—we’re so happy with our dining experience!

We’re from Quebec and New Jersey 🇺🇸, and whenever we’re in Ontario, “Hot Taste” is one of our favorite stops. We always know we’ll have a great meal here, and we can’t wait to come back again.
