A couple weeks back I decided it would be a fun idea to take my friend who is traveling all the way from Ireland to what WAS my favourite local pub. The reason I am using favourite in the past tense is because of a most recent horrid experience that still has me traumatized. It started off much like any other night when I feel a need to get out and socialize. I must add, to be fair, that I have come across some interesting and nice people by socalizing at King Henry's in the past. I also ( being a local) have come to the pub many times and spent hundreds of dollars on food and drink there. Yet ive also felt a mean vibe from one bar tender in particular every time I have visited recently. She goes by the name "Bailey" and seems to only be friendly or provide quality service to the people she likes most or already knows. I can understand liking a certain person that comes in that you are friends with and can even understand giving them amazing service because of it. What I can not understand is treating any one else/ people you dont know rudely and almost completely ignoring them to socialize with a select group instead. That had been an on going problem I had noticed in the most recent visits I had at the Arms. Ive even had a few friends (who for their privacy I won't mention ) tell me they were scared to ask Bailey to serve them. The night a couple weeks ago where I took my friend to King Henry's was the last straw for me, however. Bailey was being unfriendly towards us both ( which at this point to me wasn't shocking sadly enough) and this left me and my friend deciding she did not deserve a very good tip. I paid and then needed the restroom so left to go do that ( sorry for.the info 😆) I was absolutely shocked when I got back to the bar area because Bailey was yelling and making a scene to my visiting friend , who isn't from here ,because we "didnt tip her very much". So we were truthful and said it was because of her attitude towards us that she didn't get one. She then lost her temper completely on the both of us and said she was never serving us again. I must admit I felt very attacked and embaressed and felt like I had to defend myself and may have mumbled a few swear words about her after. Honestly though can you blame me ? After going through something as awful and embaressing as that in a public setting. I shouldnt have tried to defend myself though because it only seemed tp set her off more . I don't understand why Peter would hire a bar tender that is so terribly rude and attacks customers in such ways! Me and my friend even tried to notify him about the situation only to be completely ignored ( we even left a call back number) . We just wanted to politely get together and talk about the situation. I guess it's completely ok 👌 for a bar tender to act so immature and rude towards certain customers though .. She won't serve me anymore because its "her bar". I honestly , after all of this, have NO desire.to...
Read moreI visited the restaurant today to celebrate my birthday, but unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. The server, who had blond hair, took our order for two drinks and two foods. While the drinks arrived promptly, we encountered a significant issue with the service.
After waiting for an extended period, only one of our entrees was brought to the table. When I inquired about the missing dish after 30 minutes, the server admitted to forgetting it. We patiently waited for another 25 minutes, but our second food never arrived. Frustrated with the delay, we decided to leave.
Upon requesting the bill, it took an additional 10 minutes for the server to provide it. When we expressed our disappointment and explained that the poor service had marred our celebration, the response from the server was less than empathetic.
While I understand that mistakes can happen, the overall experience was disappointing, and the server's response to our concerns was disheartening, She said I am happy you decided to do not come here. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend this place, and I don't plan on returning in the future. I hope this feedback is taken constructively to improve the overall...
Read moreI have to admit, I’ve been frequenting this establishment for many years now, and in the past I’ve experienced inappropriate servers and managers.
However,
Under relatively new management, and with a great roster of staff members, this bar has definitely stepped up its game.
After a long day of moving furniture and driving a truck all over town, we stopped here for lunch. One of my friends accidentally ordered the wrong burger.
Our server, Miranda, was amazing and so accommodating! She immediately took the plate back and replaced it with the correct order (no charge). Miranda is very personable and so helpful to every patron at King Henry’s! A shout out to Robin as well; she has always been incredible and again, so accommodating, and so wonderful to all the guests.
The menu is so extensive… There are so many options, it’s hard to choose! But I have yet to have a meal there that was not good. Honestly the food is amazing!
The location is convenient (Yonge & 16th), although it isn’t much to look at in the little plaza, next to McDonald’s. There is also very minimal patio space.
Regardless, I highly recommend this bar/restaurant for its friendliness, service, and...
