I took a client and partner out for a simple meal. Visiting St. Louis Wings (16th Avenue Richmond Hill) for the first time. We ordered Nachos, a couple portions of Mozzarella Sticks, Wings, Chicken Tenders and drinks. Overall the service was average - minus. The food just plain minus. The bill including tip at pennies under $160 for 3 diners, high!
The server was ok. On the friendly scale...4/10. I'll put it this way. She didn’t give us the impression she was doing the job because she liked it. We received the occasional obligatory "how is everything?" drop-by but got the sense she was hoping we wouldn't ask her for anything.
The nachos were nice. A large enough plate for the three of us to share. The toppings, average, but the REALLY nice, light tortilla made for a lovely starter and the highlight of the meal. The two portions of Mozzarella Sticks were prepared with a good portion of cheese inside a deep-fried batter coating. To me...the batter tasted, a little "lardy" overpowering the cheese. Possibly, St. Louis' recipe. Not to my liking, though full marks for the cheese inside the coating.
The entre' (is that even a thing in a sports bar?) came fast, a minute or two after the starters. All the meals were placed on a printed, St. Louis liner sheet, placed inside wooden dinner -plate sized bowls. Yeah, I get it's a "Sports Bar", so I'm not expecting fine dining food presentation, delicately positioned "just right”! yet this somehow didn't look presentable. Not even for a "Sports Bar".
The 2lb. over $28.00 wings were mostly covered over by a good portion of elongated "Waffle Cut" fries. There was little taste to the fries. Served at room temperature at best (borderline cold). Not those fries, you'd want to finish to the point of searching for the remaining crispy bits, I suppose unless you were VERY hungry.
After a single eaten waffle-fry, I sifted down to reveal the "two jalapeno" rated hot wings. Like the fries, just warm enough to pass. The wing sauce was tasty, average amount of meat on the bones. Chicken tenders, though looking a little dry on the outside, but were ok. They too sharing the same wooden bowl filled with boring waffle fries.
Sidenote: I really like when All-Star Wings brings a bucket for the waste bones. The remanence of 2 lb. of chicken wing-bones piling up on a side plate, is not too appealing. In fact, most the evening was not too appealing. To which I'll say, I’m not likely to go back for anything but a cold beer and sports event...
Read moreSerious Health Concern Regarding Food Preparation I recently visited your St. Louis location and ordered 2 pounds of garlic Parmesan wings. Unfortunately, there was a misunderstanding, and honey garlic wings were served instead. We immediately informed our waitress, who was very apologetic and promptly returned the dish to the kitchen. The wings were returned within 10 minutes, supposedly corrected to garlic Parmesan. However, upon tasting them, I realized they were the same wings, merely tossed in the new sauce. When I asked the waitress if this was the case, she confirmed that it might have been. I then requested to speak with the kitchen manager, Arvin, to address this issue, particularly as this was a serious health concern due to my allergy to honey. During this time, a friend of mine who is a physician also spoke with Arvin. She introduced herself and tried to explain the gravity of the situation, emphasizing how mishandling food in this way can be life-threatening for those with allergies. Instead of acknowledging the seriousness of the issue or ensuring that the wings were properly replaced, Arvin’s only response was "Okay," with no further action or concern. This lack of concern for customer safety is deeply troubling, especially from a restaurant of your reputation. While our waitress was exceedingly professional and helpful, the response from the kitchen manager, Arvin, was unacceptable. I feel compelled to report this incident to the health department to ensure proper attention is given to food safety practices at...
Read moreFirst exepreicne during basketball playoffs was great. Good staff, good food. No complaints. Clearly though, staff is not the same and quity of service has gone down the tube.
Won't be returning to this location any time soon. Have previously had positive experiences here, but new staff seem to be "out to lunch".
Sat on the patio... Dirty napkins from previous guests on the floor. Table was extremely sticky. Cleanliness, during a pandemic, clearly not a top priority. Had to ask the server to re-wipe it, and it was done, but with a rag that was smelly, and had clearly been used on too many tables. Also came with a tone of attitude. Thanks for that.
Had to ask about specials... Otherwise we would not have known that domestic was on sale for 5 dollars. Thanks for that as well. Ordered flavoured wings... Came back plain. No ketchup brought to table...told the server about the wings.. And she responded with "well I see the sauce on it". Fun times. We had to ASK for the correct sauce to be brought on the side...was done... With attitude. No apologies for the mistake or even possibility of mistake. No willingness to bring out the correct order, nothing.
Frankly... This was a pathetic experience, coupled with potential health hazards due to a lack of cleanliness and general common sense. Won't be reccomending or attending this location ANY time soon. I would advise to avoid.
You can get over a mix up with sauce... Cleanliness though, especially during this time, is a one...
