Came with baby to have lunch and meet friends, restaurant was empty when we arrived, we waited some time to be seated. Waitress was nice in the beginning. Welcomed us, offered water, even smiled. I ordered draniki which is quite fat dish itself, so I was going to balance my meal with the Tuna Nicoise salad. And also I ordered Soup Harcho for take out right away. Firstly she brought me salad, I was confused by how it was look, even asked her if it was my Tuna Nicoise Salad, she said yes. It looked differently than what you can expect originally when you order nicoise, they changed olive oil dressing to Dijon vinaigrette,it was mentioned in the menu, so I expected to have well-known original salad, but dressing was more like sour mayo or something. My salad which supposed to be very light and green, was more like fat and oily. I didn’t eat it at all, however I finished draniki which were fatty too, but it is the way they are. As I mentioned I was with the baby and was distracted my him all the time, carrying him and trying to eat at the same time. So I couldn’t speak with waitresses right away about the salad situation. During our meal she got 4-5 more tables so she was quite busy serving them and didn’t come to us to ask if food was fine. (To those who don’t know, this is what should restaurants with this price range do right after they served food) I was in the washroom, when she finally came to our table to ask if we finished and then she noticed a plate full of salad and offered container to my friends, they said she should wait for me. I came and after a while we called her, and I said that I didn’t like salad at all, I couldn’t explain to her what exactly was wrong, tried to say that tuna flavour was strange, because it’s the first thing I tried and felt those dressing and stopped, so I just said it doesn’t meet my expectations. She expressed condemning face, didn’t say anything and left. Than I received completely wrong bill with just Soup Harcho on it. I said, I also had draniki not only soup. By those time I still expected my take out soup to come. She hurriedly snatched the bill from my hands, said it’s not yours, crumpled a piece of paper and left. She was in the rush, only one waitress in the whole restaurant. Can understand. So she came back with another bill, correct one as she said. There was draniki, salad and no soup, I didn’t ask her about it cause it was obvious she forgot about my soup, however I said “you didn’t remove salad, right?” - hoping that she just forgot because she was busy with other tables. To which she rudely replied «Вы должны были мне сразу сказать, что с ним что-то не так, тунец это консерва, она всегда одинаковая, что я должна сказать кухне» and she left. Without any excuses for the situation at all. I paid my bill and left very...

When I lived in Richmond Hill, I found this incredible restaurant years ago and I kept coming back for more. Not only did I bring my family time and time again, but I watched them grow and improve to what is now a very consistent and excellent Eastern European cuisine. I remember my first attraction being the wrap around patio with the covered awning that we actually used for my mothers 80th birthday during covid. I recently moved north of the city to Innisfil and I make it a point to stop in at my favourite go to. Whether you have the baked seabream, the chicken kiev or any of their grilled bbq selection, you’re in for an amazing culinary delight. But do yourself a favour, don’t start without one of their homemade soups because that’s their signature feel good staple. Over the years, we got to meet the most amazing staff that make up the atmosphere of the place. If you’re greeted and served by Viktoria or Olga, they will not disappoint and make you feel so warm and invited and go out of their way to enhance your dining experience. And any staff that we have met there, have been such an incredible addition to our stroganoff visits! The chefs have always put out consistently great food and I can honestly say, it just gets better and better each time
Highly Highly Recommend! And definitely worth any commute for this hidden Richmond Hill gem!
If you’re lucky, you may walk in and find this elegant, short-haired woman, who quietly runs the show. Ira has built her restaurant with integrity and ambiance and has made sure that everyone’s experience is so wonderful that it leaves you wanting more!
If you haven’t already, I suggest you walk through these...
Read moreMy new girlfriend is from Moldova, and she invited me to try Russian food at Stroganoff last weekend. The interior of the restaurant looks very inviting, but we came without a reservation and ended up being seated outside by the parking lot. An older gentleman at the next table played loud music on his phone and seemed oblivious to the disapproving glances from other diners. When we politely asked him to lower the volume, he simply ignored us. The waitress then approached and said, "Don't mind him; he's a regular and always does that." Quite a peculiar response, I must say.
Food-wise, our meal was decent but not exceptional. We shared osso buco and lamb kebabs. While the osso buco was good, the kebabs were overcooked. We also tried the Ukrainian borscht, which was very tasty. The prices seemed high, especially considering being seated near the parking lot. However, the portions were very generous and there was more food than we could finish. I'm giving Stroganoff a 4-star rating based on the food and service. I believe our experience would have been different (and better) had we been seated inside and not subjected to the...
