Simple, relaxed atmosphere. Huge menu with lots of variety. It took us a while to decide on what to eat as we wanted to get one of everything, lol. There is light, Western style fare like ham sandwiches and fries, to more elevated dishes like ribeye steak and lobster.
In the end, we made good decisions, because the food was awesome. We got Thai style fried rice with chicken, and baked minced pork spaghetti with ham/chicken/broccoli (I chose chicken).
First off, the portion sizes were beautiful. I loathe leaving restaurants still hungry so it was a pleasant surprise. The food was piping hot.
The fried rice was unassumimg, but it exceeded my expectations. It was perfectly hot, bursting with depth of flavor but not overly salty, with the most tender chunks of meat. It was sweet and smoky and savory. I forgot how good fried rice could be!
The baked spaghetti dish took a bit longer but it is clearly stated out in the menu as such. When it arrived, it was still sizzling! It had a nice layer of sizzling cheese on top. The flavor was very good, a comfort food, not as complex as the fried rice but considering as I'm frequently disappointed by restaurant pasta dishes, this was very well done. The chicken pieces were bites of succulent perfection.
The service was not the most enthusiastic but it seemed to me that it may have been more reflective of a prior bad exchange that day. Speaking as someone who has had good days ruined from bad customers.
The price was very right when compared to the nearby restaurants that we were also considering.
Cash, debit and credit is all accepted.
My partner loved this place and said he will definitely be coming back. That took me as a surprise as he's not easy to impress!!
As for me, I am still thinking about the amazing...
Read moreReview Update: July 2024 - I went to Kingspark for breakfast and this time it was horrible. The macaroni with sliced ham was super salty. The soup base was salty as if I was eating sea water. Yeah it was THAT BAD. There was no taste to the food except SALTY. This latest experience left a salty taste. It will be a long time before I come back to this restaurant again.
Another typical Hong Kong style cafe in Richmond. Interior decor looks the same as when it was opened about 13 years ago. Definitely needs a renovation but still in fair condition. Food quality and quantity is good for the price thus I gave 4 stars for food. Lack of parking especially during busy hours. Service was OK. The server brought the food over and leaves….typical Cantonese style of service which I like 👍 This was the only restaurant I know of that opens early for breakfast on Boxing Day. Good job! Thus 4...
Read moreI was paying for the bill and had some money on the table on top of the bill. A waitress, short haired with glasses, came by and pointed out the bill was $11.50 and I was paying $12, and then walked away without taking the money. A couple minutes later I flagged down the same waitress and asked her for some change. She responded with $0.50 is not enough for a tip. I told her I knew that, and I was asking for change. She unwillingly got me change and when she brought back the $0.50 she mentioned again that it was not enough for tips. A few minutes later as I was finishing my tea, she came by again and said again $0.50 was not enough for tips. When I was ready to go I left more than enough tips.
A couple of months ago this same waitress asked us for more tips. We pointed out that she dropped a $2 when taking our cash and there was enough tips.
I was a regular here but will not be...
