I was really looking forward to the upgrades they were doing to the park. I appreciate the accessibility improvements as well as improvements to the water quality. That said, I feel like this is a very sanitized feeling park that has completely lost its personality. Most of the shorelines are concrete now, so it doesn't feel natural or like the animals would be able to thrive here. A lot of the bushes and trees have been removed, you can literally see across most of the park from any point. I'm not sure if this was a misguided attempt to try to reduce crime by increasing the sight lines, but it removes all the immersion the park had before. Also, my understanding is that we should be increasing the canopy to help combat climate change, so it's interesting they would choose to remove so much of the vegetation around the park. POverall, I think the park is just a boring, sanitized version of what...

Now it’s just another city park, with large, barren expanses of grass, a cemented shoreline, and very little personality and immersion. I also dislike the red-orange colour palette they went with for the bridges, benches, etc.
It’s really disappointing, because I feel like Minoro Park was unique because of how natural it felt. Regardless of what they needed to fix (regarding the water quality and whatnot) they could have still preserved the natural feel. Where are all the saplings? Bushes?...
Read moreThis is such a nice little oasis right in the middle of Richmond. I came over because I was nearby for lunch and saw green space on the map, but did not expect the park here to be so scenic and peaceful! I found it to be a great place for a long meditative walk as there as lots of paths you can take around the lake and through wooded areas. There are lots of benches by the lake for relaxing or more secluded picnic tables throughout the park. It’s sprawling enough that you could probably spend an hour just exploring the different pathways. Well worth going out of your way to...
