A beautiful example was shown to me on the weekend.

Those close to me know that I've been dealing with a lot of health issues. Over the weekend, I was barely able to get out of bed and get my kids to where they needed to be, but I did it.

After doing the final drop-off, I did a sigh of relief and proceeded to drive across Richmond to my favorite local coffee shop. I had only a few minutes to spare before having to head back to watch my son's basketball tournament.

I get to Terra Nova, pulled out my wallet and noticed my debit card wasn't there. So I quickly upload my other card to Google Pay. Crisis averted.

I go into the shop and order a coffee and a muffin. I tap my card. It doesn't work. I try it again. Same thing.... I am super embarrassed at this point because know I have money on the card and my coffee has already been made.

I'm starting to get super anxious as clients start to line up behind me.

I stepped asside and asked the barista to cancel my order until I can figure out my card and she told me not to worry about it, that it was on the house.

Shocked from her kindness, I thanked her, took my coffee and muffin, and went back to the car.

I totally had a quick little cry, wiped my tears, smiled, and drove back to the basketball tournament.

I was excited to try this new place that finally took over the old Starbucks location in TerraNova. We like to support small indie coffee shops so this was a big plus to see here.

The staff here are friendly and they seem to have a good bakery selection.

Ordered a latte for here, but was a bit disappointed they served the drink in a paper cup while I saw they had china/porcelain cups available.

I saw they served all their drinks using take-out cups. This brings down the in-store coffee drinking experience to a lower level, also not so “green” to do so.

Also ordered a muffin but it was wet and soggy, seemed like it was underbaked but maybe this is just their recipe, I don’t know.

We will certainly give it another chance in a few months time after it...

I’ve been coming to this location with my boyfriend for about 2 years now and it’s our go to everyday and we love it!! The manager Damen is absolutely amazing and super thoughtful and Sabina is so sweet and kind and takes the time to talk to me everytime I’m there.

I’ve seen a couple people post reviews about how slow they are and how they mess up and it bothers me because these workers don’t get the recognition they deserve. It’s a small coffee shop and they get lots of rushes especially during lunch, so it makes sense that it will be a bit slower because they are on till and making drinks usually by themselves so obviously they can get things wrong sometimes, we’re all human and we all make mistakes.
