Edit: I review this place 3 years ago and decided to come back to give it another go. The ramen broth was thick, the noodles were nice and chewy however, the service needs A LOT of improvement. The servers were inattentive and hard to wave down to get my order taken, get more water and even get my bill. The server was taking the orders for the tables next to us, when she finished, I waved for her to take our order. She then tells me to wait and walks away without coming back... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The food was decent, but nothing special nor did it stand out. The menu was simple and straight forward. I ordered the Shio Tori Ramen Special (chicken broth) which was $15.50. The food came relatively quick and the noodles had a different texture but pretty good. The broth was tasty but thin and water-y. The cha su looked good but they were extremely thin and had a slight char taste; nothing great. I went on a Thursday night and the parking lot was pretty packed but the restaurant was pretty slim in terms of customers. The service was okay. Out of the 4 waitresses there, only 1 had a smile on their face. They seems to rush us out as they took away our finished bowls and brought over the bill and asked if we were paying by debit or cash. They did however, ask us if we'd like our water refilled a few times which was the least they could do. The decor on the inside was traditional but with a modern touch. It was bright and cozy. It definitely gave off a traditional feel with the place advertising it originated from Niigata, Japan. However, this place did not taste authentic but rather a chinese run ramen shop. Unfortunately, I do not think I would return as there are better options nearby.

Came here on a friday evening. We arrived 5:30pm so we were the first customers of the day. The interior is nice and spacious, and we got seated at the center table. We ordered two spicy tsukemen noodles. They ran out of bamboo shoots this day, but offered nothing in replacement of the missing topping. I even asked explicitly if i can add a topping of the same price point but no luck. Anyhow, the food was okay. The portion was quite large, and the flavour was good, however there are some downsides. The piece of chashu we added was cold. The broth was also just luke warm, and was way too liquidy compared to traditional tsukemen. The noodle had great texture however, which was the saving grace, and you can add some fish soup to the remaining broth which was a nice touch. The reason for the 2 star service was because even though we were one of maybe only five pairs of customers, everything felt rushed. The servers came in abruptly to take our glass of water for refill; they took away our plates the moment we finished our last bite; and they didn't even asked or wait until I am ready to pay before putting the bill in front of me with the machine asking me for payment. I understand if this was done at a more busy time when the table needs to be turned over, but the restaurant was 3/4 empty at the time... Overall, great environment, decent food but not for the price, and uncomfortable service. Wouldn't recommend unfortunately.

Disappointing Takeout Experience - Container Fee a Deal-Breaker I recently ordered takeout from Sanpoutei Ramen by phone and was surprised by a few things. The food was decent, but not outstanding - the pork was flavorful, but the soup was overly salty and lacked umami flavor. The chicken karaage was just okay. However, what really took me aback was the $1 per container fee. Yes, you read that right - $1 EXTRA for each container, which wasn't disclosed when I ordered. That's $3 added to my bill for containers. Given that we brought our own bag, I'm guessing they would've charged us for a bag too if we hadn't. What's even more frustrating is that this fee isn't mentioned upfront when ordering. If you're planning to get takeout, I'd strongly recommend ordering through FanTuan instead, where you can avoid this container fee and pay by credit card. The cash/debit only policy at the location is also inconvenient. For a small amount, you might think it's no big deal, but it's the principle of the thing. Transparency in pricing is key, and this feels like a money grab. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend Sanpoutei Ramen for takeout due to this surcharge. Rating: 2/5 stars (would be higher if not for the container fee)

I gave this rating because there is no less option. Me and my wife stoppped by for dinner today/just now. It's our first time visit and everything seem good until extra rice ball desert were delivered to us at the end of the dinner. We thought that was dessert just like the other resturant and happy on this little surprise. My wife found the rice ball quite hard, so we wait for a while to see if its soften a bit. Couple mins later, we are ready to go and call the bill. The waitress comes and checked the order, she right away stopped my wife starting to pick the rice ball to eat. And yelled to us, 'you didnt order it, it's wrong order'. And I said, 'we thought it was free desert', And then this waitress reply loudly said, 'if you want this, you have to pay!'. what hell! Then this dish of rice ball were grabbed back and soon delivered to our neighbor table. And the customers in that table watched the whole scene. Come on, you guys made the mistake, your waitress delivered the wrong dishes. We did not steal it, we did not rob it, it's all your flawed services. How dare you yell to the customer 'if you want this, you have to pay' ? So Rude! Also you grabbed the dish back after five mins and at the time we are paying the bill? How much more time you need to realize the mistake you made! And even more mistakes you made is, this one belongs to neighbor table, they saw the whole thing, how they could eat this? We didnt eat it because its quite hard. but still, my wife used bamboo forks on the rice ball already! I cannt believe such service happened on us today. This is so so bad! I wish I could rate 0 or negtive number. BTW just clarify the waitress seems like the manager level person, she is bit older, and didnt speaks English, sounds like cantonese, to me at...

Worst treatment from a waitress in my entire life!

A grey haired elderly waitress got my order wrong. I was at first very calm while stating it was not what I ordered. The waitress said it was what I ordered and that she confirmed with me, said I gave her a yes. She wore a mask and had an accent, it shouldn’t be my fault when her “asking for confirmation” was not clear enough. As I kept saying I ordered A1 instead of B1, she kept saying no you didn’t order this you ordered that, MULTIPLE TIMES. Instead of trying to solve the problem, she just kept trying to convince it was my fault for not receiving the food I wanted to have. Because of her rude attitude and words, I asked to talk to a manager. She said there’s no manager just talk to me. During this entire time there were many other waitresses standing at different corners of the restaurant doing nothing without coming up and trying to help their coworker or their customer. I refused to eat the food or pay for it and was waiting for my friend to finish his food. A couple minutes later a person came claiming that she’s the manager and she wanted to talk about the situation. Of course the manager was being reasonable and offered free food for my order, but I paid for my food anyway and didn’t leave a tip. I didn’t try to “cause a scene” to avoid paying my bill, I was just never treated by a server this way in my entire life at a restaurant and couldn’t stand it. The ramen was ok, but my entire body was still shaking the entire time I was eating. I had to eat the freaking food because I was having a late lunch and I was very hungry.

Worst dining experience ever. I hope the owner will be aware of the issue and address it, otherwise it’s really not the right way to run a...
