I first came here for dinner after hearing about their leg of lamb with bone marrow (Stew Sauced Lamb Leg Bone). However, they ran out of that so I opted for one of their well known items as recommended by the server - Lamb Soup for one with Tripe Soup Base and Sugar Cake (Shaobing). Since then, I also tried their Lamb Skewers and Chicken Heart Skewers both at Medium Spice Level, their Stir Fried Diced Bone-in Lamb with Bay Leaf, and their Red Bean Shaobing. The shaobing was definitely a good surprise as they were very crispy and the sugar one stood out the most as it had an excellent level of sweetness and I was thankful that the server recommended this filling. It was something that I could just keep on eating. As for the lamb soup, it was very aromatic. It came with tripe, cabbage, glass vermicelli/noodles, green onion, cilantro, and a couple of wolfberries. The soup itself was very soothing as it was rich, had enough flavour, but not at all strong nor overwhelming. The tripe had a good flavour, was tender, but still had a nice chew to it. I am not a typical fan of glass noodles but it went really well with the soup as it brought out an umami flavour. The cabbage, green onion, and cilantro all added extra levels to the soup - crunch and refreshing flavour from the cabbage, and aromatic smell and flavour from the cilantro and green onions. In terms of the skewers, the lamb was very tender, juicy, and had a good spice level at medium. The chicken heart still had a bit of the organ metallic flavour but was tender, crunchy and juicy. Perhaps it would be better at Strong spice level. The stir fried lamb was crispy as it was nicely fried first, was flavourful with a nice level of spice to it, and included good pieces of lamb. Other than the food itself was the restaurant’s decor and service. I really enjoyed the decor and atmosphere at the restaurant. Looking out the window on this second floor restaurant made it a lot more pleasant and calming (with the restaurant and table decoration and plating). Service was another highlight at the restaurant. The server was very friendly and welcoming. For me, she offered solutions to selecting spice level such as adding more spice after if needed (if it’s not spicy enough) and suggesting that I may have ordered too much when I was leaning to ordering more. In general, she did not urge people to leave but rather offered another cup of tea and said that they should warm up fully before leaving. One of the notable things was that she brought out a cup for the delivery person too. Overall, the food, decor, and service made it a very immersive and...
Read moreI've been to this restaurant quite often and love the dishes very much. The young guy waiter is really nice and friendly. However, I never expected to get such rude customer service today and made me no longer wanna go there anymore. When I came in, a middle age waitress told me I could only sit outside because the inside is full. My first thought is I have to sit outside of restaurant them I realize what she said was I can’t take the 6-seats place which closes to inside window. First, I never asked to take six people seat, second, I am totally fine to sit wherever she wants me sit. Out of curiosity, I said to her that I came here a lot, I used to sit inside- has this changed? She didn’t answer me directly but said: if you three take the seats for six, what if there are more people come in and have no seats? I feel embarrassed and didn’t say anything anymore. Then she stared to make a very loud noises when she sort out the bowls, tea cup, chopsticks etc. on the table, It made me feel that she was very angry with us. Then she said she needed to check ID and left. I waited her come back to check my id and vaccine info. It took a while till I approached her and asked her to check- I said why it took so long - she replied “ I don’t have time to wait here to check yours as I am the only one for the whole restaurant”. My goodness, if that is the case, you should tell your boss but not lower down the customer service. We felt we were not welcome in restaurant so we decided to left even though we drove an hour just to come here for lunch. Never wanna go...
Read moreOne of our family's favorite food stalls at the Aberdeen Centre food court. Over the past year, we've dined here frequently
These are some of our favorite items available at this stall:
$15.99 Large Combo A "Lamb Soup." The best lamb soup in GVA! It comes in a big bowl, much bigger than its competitors'. It has lots of ingredients and soup. It's not too salty or heavy. I'd say it's perfect. It also comes with a veggie appetizer and a delicious "Crispy Cake."
Although the "Crispy Cake" comes with the Lamb Soup, we often buy them separately. A ready-to-eat one costs $3, and frozen ones cost $2.5 each. We buy them frozen and air-fry them at home. They're delicious!
$12.99 Combo H with 12 lamb dumplings. Deliciously just right. The only complaint with this is that they use paper trays and dumplings get stuck to the tray, often ripping the dumpling and spilling its contents.
when we first found this place, the female counter staff - presuming she was the owner - can only speak Mandarin. No English. No Cantonese. My Mandarin sucks. Communication between us often lost in translation. Because of this, I only came once in a blue moon. Now, she finally hired someone who speaks fluent Cantonese, Mandarin and English. And she's friendly. Good job!! I come here more and more often...
