If you have allergies, they will refuse to serve you. My wife has many allergies, but their menu had basic items that she could eat. She simply asked for a burger patty with some lettuce, cucumbers slices, and avocado. After we ordered, a woman who was dressed as a chef came out of the kitchen and said that they were unable to make what she asked for because of cross-contamination on the pans and utensils. She refused to wash the kitchen tools and cut some fresh ones. Apparently the fancy chef’s coat that she was wearing with the intricate “Chef” embroidery was for show, and is an insult to real chefs everywhere. She then sent the manager over to refuse service to us. Their eagerness to eject us because of their shortfalls and incompetence was insulting. After we threatened poor online reviews, we left to go find other food options among the limited options in this terminal. The story should end here, but sadly it doesn’t. As we were walking around the opposite end of the terminal, the manager named Gunesh who refused service to us, walked right up to us and aggressively accused us of taking her picture. She felt that her complaint warranted a call to the airport police, even though it was unfounded. Once the police heard what was really happening, they chuckled at the pettiness of the manager and we went along our way. Gunesh has no business in the service industry, even in an airport restaurant, and the “chef” needs to stop playing dress-up until she learns how to be more than a microwave chef.
We ended up going through the security checkpoint again to eat Subway and Wendy’s, which were both gladly able to accommodate my wife’s allergies. If this place considers themselves a real restaurant, they need to take a hard look at themselves. They couldn’t even meet the standards of nearby fast...
Read moreWe got seated in the Stanley Park Vancouver Airport restaurant next to the window with no way to lower the blinds. The server said it's because of renovations happening. Luckily we had sunglasses we could wear.
We then asked about kids options because we're traveling with two small kids and were told we could modify an adult order to make it work for kids and then we're told we'd still be paying 21 dollars for flatbread with cheese on it.
There were 4 adults in our party ready to order food. In order to try to make it qork so we could feed our kids and still order food for us, we asked if we could get the small kids a burger each from triple O's while we ordered food from your restaurant. We were told no.
The explanation we were given was that "Everybody started doing that. They would order drinks and sit there with triple O burgers. So you banned it." I would think having people come in and drinking your overpriced alcohol would be worth allowing their kids to eat something.
When we said well you don't offer kids food, so we were trying to get them something so we could stay, the waiter snapped at us and told us we can talk to the manager if we had a problem with it."
That soured our whole experience because your waiter was so rude to us for no reason. We decided to leave. My mother in law told him to cancel her vodka cranberry because we were going to leave and he told us it was already made, (not brought to the table).
So we waited for the drink and she paid her bill and we left.
What an awful experience.
It's ridiculous to me that your response to having people bring food in for their kids because you have no kids options, was to ban the food instead of creating kids options. You would do well to re-evaluate how you treat...
Read moreExceeded expectations! Stanley Park Brewing is a pretty reliable local brand, but you never know at an airport. Fortunately my experience here was very good. I arrived around 8 pm on a Thursday for a pre-flight dinner, it was busy but not full. There was a host at the front to seat me right away, and after a few minutes with the menu, someone came to take my order. I got a beer and a meal - the beer was brought out very quickly, and the food took a bit longer, I wasn’t timing, but it was about average service time for a sit-down restaurant, maybe around 15 minutes. Out of their 6 beers on tap, I chose the Noble Pilsner. This was great, I liked the very slight floral note - it was just pronounced enough to give the beer some character. From my experience with Stanley Park beers in general (outside of this restaurant), I appreciate how they sound simple but always have a little special touch to make them memorable. I got the Tofu Power Bowl to eat, which was an absolute treat. Great medley of tofu and veggies in a delicious tangy sauce. Pretty filling, but not oversized. The service was great, both attentive and very friendly. They did a little bit of small talk, (asking how was my day, where I was flying) which for me is sometimes not fun, but I felt they were very genuine about it and it made the experience feel nice and personal. Obligatory one star off for the airport prices. Entree + beer + tip was $40+. If you’re going to spend $40 at an airport though, this is...
