A Pleasant Comeback Experience – 4.5/5 About a year ago, I used to be a regular at Tandoori King Kitche and Bar in Richmond and always loved their food. However, I stopped visiting after encountering a rude manager. I’m happy to share that when I brought up the issue to the management, they took immediate action, apologized sincerely, and assured me the individual was no longer part of the team. I decided to give them another chance and visited two days ago. The experience was fantastic! The staff was warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. As a token of gratitude, they even offered a discount on my meal, which was a really thoughtful gesture. This time, I ordered Coconut Prawns, Methi Malai Chicken, Dal Makhani, Lachha Paratha, and Garlic Naan. Here’s my breakdown: • Coconut Prawns: 5/5 – Absolutely delicious! • Methi Malai Chicken: 4.5/5 – Creamy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. • Dal Makhani: 4.5/5 – Rich and satisfying. • Lachha Paratha: 4/5 – Nice texture, though it could be slightly crispier. • Garlic Naan: 3.5/5 – Good, but could use a bit more garlic flavor. The food was fantastic overall, and the service was equally impressive. I visited during the afternoon, so the restaurant wasn’t too crowded, and the staff made sure I had a wonderful experience. I appreciate the management for taking hospitality seriously and ensuring their customers feel valued. I’m happy to say I’ll be visiting them regularly again. Wishing them continued success! I recently visited The Tandoori King Kitchen in Richmond, BC, and had a mixed but overall pleasant experience. While the food itself was average in taste, the presentation was impressive — every dish came out looking appealing and well-prepared. To start, I tried both the Kashmiri Pink Chai and the Masala Chai. Both were excellent — rich in flavor and brewed just right. The pink chai especially stood out with its authentic aroma and smooth texture, making it a must-try for tea lovers. For the main course, I ordered Tandoori Chicken with Naan. The chicken was flavorful, juicy, and had the right amount of spice. However, the naan was quite dry, which slightly took away from the overall experience. I also had the Lamb Biryani, which was decent but didn’t quite hit the mark in terms of authentic flavor or seasoning — it felt a bit underwhelming compared to other places I’ve tried. The ambience of the restaurant is very good — clean, modern, and welcoming. There was a bit of a wait for the food, but the staff were polite and attentive throughout. Parking is available, which is always a plus in Richmond. Overall, The Tandoori King Kitchen offers good service, great ambiance, and some standout items like their chai and tandoori chicken. With a few improvements to consistency and flavor, especially with the naan and biryani, this place could become a local favorite.

I’ll get this out of the way first: the food is great, when they actually bring you what you ordered.

Tonight was the fourth time I’ve dined here with the same server and three of four times she has botched our orders, bringing out dishes that were not ordered. This time, I called ahead to make sure some dishes were gluten free for a person joining me. When we arrived, I recognized the server (the shortest of the three female servers with very long hair). I asked about ordering the Mogambo Chips (not fries!), as they are thinly sliced and fried potato chips with sauces. Knowing the first time I ordered them when they came drenched and swimming in sauce, I knew to order with sauce on the side, which I had done in the past. Tonight, the server told me this was not possible. They had to come topped with sauce, which I politely disputed. After agreeing to only accept one sauce on the side, we ordered an appy and mains. Shortly thereafter, they tried to serve us the French fries, telling us they were not gluten free. I politely declined the food and reminded the server this is not what was ordered. She then proceeded to gaslight me, trying to convince me that I ordered the fries and not the chips. And then continued to tell me the chips could not be served without the sauces. I reminded her that I had been there several times previously and had ordered and received the chips with sauce on the side, and she had served me. Continuing to debate me, I also reminded her that she made mistakes on every single order she’s taken from me during past visits. Continuing to gaslight me, I politely asked for the bill for my Pepsi, so that we could leave without receiving our food. Not getting the message, the server continued to ask me to hear her out and let her fix things, which I was not in the mood for. I finally had to ask another server to get me the bill, as I was not walking out without paying for the drink I partially consumed. I then received the bill, paid it with tip, and left with two others whom I planned on dining with.

I will never return to Tandoori King in Richmond. While the food is delicious and the ambiance is great, the service is atrocious with at least one completely dishonest and grossly incompetent server. If you go there, make sure they serve you what...

Tandoori King Kitchen & Bar

Located at: 11911 Bridgeport Rd #101, Richmond, BC V6X 1T5

Compact Indian dining room featuring lamb and goat specials, and vegetarian items.

We were driving in the Bridgeport area of Richmond when we noticed a new restaurant with people lining up and waiting outside. Intrigued by the buzz, we decided to visit Tandoori King Kitchen & Bar the following day.

Ambiance: Upon entering the restaurant, we were warmly welcomed by the waitress. The interior was inviting, with a cozy and intimate atmosphere that set the stage for a pleasant dining experience. The decor was tastefully done, reflecting traditional Indian aesthetics with a modern touch.

Food:

Appetizer

Prawn Pakora Marinated in yogurt, ginger, and garlic, the prawn pakora was a delightful start to our meal. The prawns were large and perfectly crispy, with a well-balanced seasoning that enhanced their natural flavor. This dish was an excellent introduction to the restaurant’s culinary prowess.

Rating: 9 out of 10

Mains

Butter Chicken The butter chicken featured boneless chicken pieces cooked in a rich butter sauce infused with ginger and garlic. The portion size was generous, making it good value for money. The chicken was tender and succulent, with a well-rounded seasoning that made the dish thoroughly enjoyable.

Rating: 8 out of 10

Lamb Korma The lamb korma, cooked in a creamy cashew nut sauce, presented large, tender pieces of lamb. While the portion size was generous, the dish fell slightly short on seasoning, making it a bit bland for my taste. However, the quality of the lamb was commendable.

Rating: 7 out of 10

Service: Despite a minor hiccup with my drink order, the waitress was courteous and apologetic. Given the busy evening and the limited staff on the floor, the service was efficient and friendly.

Price: The meal offered excellent value for money, with generous portions and reasonable pricing.

Verdict: Tandoori King Kitchen & Bar is a promising addition to the Richmond dining scene. The ambiance is charming, the food is generally impressive, and the prices are fair. Despite a few minor issues, our overall experience was positive, and we look forward to returning. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit for anyone craving authentic...

Love the food at this place BUT I’ve had 2 really bad customer service instances but today tops it all.

Wife and I just landed at the airport after an exhausting 24 hour travel. Called the restaurant from the airport to place a take out order but 10 minutes later wife said let’s just eat at the restaurant as she was super tired. Called the restaurant (I have the call records) and they said you cannot dine in cuz it’s a take out order. That sounded absolutely ridiculous but we decided to go there anyway. Spoke to the tall lady server who happens to be the manager and she says it policy despite our explanation of our travel and we were just tired. Her solution was for us to sit at the patio if we wanted. We pretty much walked out till she came out saying she would serve us in the restaurant. She needed to take the owners permission apparently. The restaurant had 1 single customer and you have policy? Btw I’ve probably placed 30-40 take out orders or maybe more since you’ll opened. Your rigid rules have definitely left a bad taste.

A previous incident: about 3-4 months ago we called the restaurant at about 10:15 to book a table. Was told the restaurant very busy and only take out orders are being accepted. Since we were down that side we decided to just drive in. SURPRISE: the restaurant was empty and there was a dirty table with about 8 or 10 plates.

I just feel that’s dishonesty to tell a customer that and I know the that particular staff that was over the phone. She apologized in person but again it leaves a bad taste.

I hate to put negative reviews to damage anyone’s business but today’s incident...
