We haven't eaten here in years and since it's close to where we live we thought we'd give it another try and called to order takeout. I was excited to see they now had many vegetarian options. I ordered the sweet and sour tofu with pineapple. Since I don't like soft tofu, I asked the person who answered the phone if the tofu was crispy to which she declared it was. She said it was actually deep fried. Although I prefer baked or sautéed. When it arrived, I was sad to see the tofu cubes were very large and soft. It looks like it had been attempted to have been made crispy as I did detect a slight coating, but the tofu was so soft inside that I couldn't eat it. It was undercooked. Even for tofu, that's not a good thing. It was really disappointing since the sauce was delicious, as were the veggies and crisp noodles. I ate all of that and thankfully that was enough for me, but the tofu was a disaster. I wish restaurants that offer tofu recipes would take the time to learn how to prepare it properly, so it is palatable.I don't think it was extra firm tofu either, which would have made it much better. Would have ordered this again and again for treat nights if the tofu had been prepared well. It would have been a 5 stars for me if that...
Read moreOne star is being kind. Threw out almost 200.00 of what they call food. Their traditional won ton soup is nothing even close to it. The soup was dark black and looked like a salad was thrown into the soup. Tasted more like a soy sauce soup. Chicken balls were not cooked a doughy texture. The curry chicken had no curry taste at all but had a strong pepper taste. They had it in foam cantaner and the water sauce was in the plastic bag it was in. They use mostly onions for vegetables in the dish. The egg rolls were a green slimmy paste. The mushroom foo young was not done properly and had no taste. The only thing they did correctly was the steam rice. The charge 7.00 for delivery. I have had Chinese food from a freezer from a grocery store and tasted 100 times better then what they call Chinese food. I felt sick after eating tiny bit and i l love Chinese food. I told my friend when I get back to Toronto I will courier them what Chinese food is supposed to taste like. Save your money. I don't like throwing out food but I would feed...
Read moreWhen there two weeks ago, during our family's 11-day Atlantic Provinces tour. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, the owners are very friendly and we chatted all the time. The wife, Judy, was always smiling, not the typical "business smile", but rather heart-felt. Once she knew we were looking for some real Chinese food, she recommended that we should not read the menu, which was designed for Canadianized Chinese food (please forgive me putting it that way, but it's the truth :D) Instead, she mentioned some really yummy traditional dishes (including stir-fried pork intestine:) and we all agreed to give it a try. Wow, that's the most tasty and satisfactory meal we had during the whole journey! It really quenched our thirst for Chinese food. Dining there is not like dining at a restaurant, but rather at home!
Will definitely recommend this restaurant to those who are born with a...
