I'm honestly so disappointed with my experience today.
We had been here for dim sum brunch earlier this year and had fantastic service, great food, and a memorable time.
After our great experience last time, I decided to take the family out for my birthday dinner. I regret choosing this place after our experience.
We showed up around 5:30 and were 1 of 3 tables at the time. A quiet night.
The servers were rude and would walk away when we asked a question. They seemed annoyed when we requested the dim sum menu, which we called ahead and confirmed was offered in the evening. We ordered an array of dimsum and it was great, but they gave us the wrong soup and seemed upset when we pointed it out. They didn't reply when we asked if it was the correct soup and simply picked it up and walked away without a word.
When it came time to pay the bill and pack up leftovers, they took ages to acknowledge our table, even with our attempt to make eye contact and gesture them over. We requested some take out containers, and she gave us a single one. We informed her that we were two seperate households and would like 2 containers so we can each take some home. She insisted she would charge for 2. She even walked to our table to see if we needed 2 containers before insisting they cost money and that we didn't need 2. I don't feel that take out containers should be charged nor that there's any reason to argue with a customer for a little plastic container?
I'm super confused and embarrassed by this entire experience. I have been to many dimsum places and while language is understandably a barrier, it's never been a problem and I've never had such horrible treatment.
The real kicker is that when I went up to pay, she passed me the receipt with the total. She then passed me a machine with a completely different and much higher total. She didn't look happy when I asked why the machine did not match the receipt. She then insisted the machine must be broken and quickly gave me a different machine with the right price. It felt VERY off and shady and I did not tip with the overall horrible experience.
Never going back after this experience. I would avoid this place for the sneaky and scummy...
Read moreSuper disappointing because they scammed me - 骗子! 不吃!!! I'm half-Chinese, don't look it, but I can speak fluent Cantonese. The day before the dinner for two, I called in advanced to let them know that I wanted to order Peking Duck. Now, I've had Peking Duck many times before and while it wasn't at this restaurant -it's all served very similarly. Nicely cut pieces of crispy duck skin usually layered nicely on a large round plate (first dish) + the second dish, which consists of meat and bones in a stir fry type deal.
Peking Duck is always served in two dishes; the first dish is all the skin + some meat and the second dish is the meat/bones.
When they brought me the first dish (skin) it was haphazard looking, the skin was torn into different sizes, and maybe only 10-15 pieces thrown on top of shrimp chips. There was no rhyme or reason to the way in which it was cut, presented etc.... It literally looked like "day old duck skin" that someone torn into big and small pieces and then thrown onto shrimp chips. They basically decided to serve us a fake version of Peking Duck and to my horror, tried to defend it!!!
I should also point out that when I showed up to the restaurant, before being seated, I spoke to them in Cantonese. Demonstrating that I'm Chinese. That didn't stop them from still serving me something entirely different/incorrect from what was actually asked.
After we ate the food but questioned the dish, the server asked us if everything was good, and I pointed out that what was served to us, that's not Peking Duck; she then proceeded to advise me that "this is how they serve Peking Duck in BC," as if I've never had it and don't actually live here.
I was appalled. I'm still shocked that this Chinese restaurant choose to lie to a Chinese person who knows this dish. My bill was $160+ tax/tip that night. The Peking Duck dish was $80... but they basically served me left over duck skin. Ugh.
Disgusting behaviour. It's such a shame.

Read moreThis place is a little difficult to review. It was not very busy when we arrived. The food was very tasty and hot although it did take a while for it to come. The portions were fairly big and the prices were fairly decent. However they didn’t have any sort of hard liquor. That was alright although a little surprising and when Karaoke started and the throngs came in we did hightail it. There a couple of things that we found a little disturbing. One was the state or the bathrooms, they didn’t look like anything had been changed or remodelled in about ten years or so. Meaning there was about that much grime all over the walls and nooks and crannies that all the scrubbing in the world would not take off. That goes for the “carpet”, or I think that’s what I we were walking on. So that really made me question the rest of the establishment. Particularly the kitchen! Sadly the customer service was really lacking. The lady would take one or two drink orders at our table (there were 12-13 of us) and the worst part was when one of my guests let out a tremendous scream and not one of the staff members came to see what was wrong!!! When I say scream, I mean scream! My guest had put her hands on her seat to move it closer to the table. What she had not realized that the seat she was sitting on had come unglued/unscrewed? from the chair so her index finger was caught between the seat and the wooden part of the chair. Not only was her scream loud enough to raise the dead but she also crashed her chair up against a partition wall directly behind her when she jumped up. Not ONE person came to see what had happened. You can decide what kind of place this is and if it’s the kind of place you would...
