The biggest reason I wanted to try eating here was the atmosphere of the private tatami rooms. And I wasn't disappointed-- it made for a more unique night out! I could see it being a great location to visit with a bigger group of people if you want a bit of privacy. I was also pleasantly surprised at the serving sizes for the prices. We were a group of three, so we thought sharing a seafood boat for two and getting a robata combo would be the right amount of food, but we all left feeling stuffed and couldn't eat everything we'd ordered.
On the downside, although the service was friendly, it was very slow towards the end as our poor server had a lot of tables and large groups to deal with. I also thought the food was just okay. For example, there seemed to be an emphasis on quantity over quality with the few things we tried, and the salads were just some chopped iceburg lettuce with a few slices of tomato and what looked like plain japanese mayo on top (I'm used to a lot of japanese restaurants at least using a nice ginger dressing to add some flavour).
Pros: Great location for groups, good prices, large portions, unique atmosphere
Cons: Loud and crowded,...
Read morePoor quality, leather tough chicken and bland... The $20 sushi boat wasn't worth 10... I almost always take a photo to upload, this boat wasn't worth the photo.
I think the chicken kara-ge on it was left over from yesterday's lunch and they just kept deep frying it until it finally sold at today's dinner, it was like eating a brick, I actually chipped the first layer of meat off the side of the leg... The rolls were only ok, pretty bland. the oyster thing it came with was disgusting, a pool of creamy blob (possibly butter and thousand Island dressing) with some meat bits. The salad was a pile of shredded cabbage with a single slice of old tomato and a couple slices of cucumber. The tempura was soggy, the skewers were over cooked and covered in sides. The $14 roll my wife ordered was tiny and plain but I was so focused on mine
Being from Vancouver, maybe we just have a high expectation from our sushi places. This one wouldn't survive across the water.
We were there for a birthday party, the only bonus was that you get a 30% discount for birthday parties... I wish I could give back the discount in exchange...
Read moreFOOD: The miso was alright, it was served warm and well seasoned. The tempura vegetables were well cooked but the tempura was chewy. The sushi was standard, tasted good. The sashimi was cut well but was likely previously frozen. The rice was well cooked. The ice cream served with the meal had chunks of frozen ice, which occurs when ice cream is thawed then frozen repeatedly. The sauces were alright, probably from a bottle and not house made.
SERVICE: The servers are very nice. 5 stars for servers. 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
ACCESSIBILITY: The entry is level ground with a standard 32 inch pull door. It is a little crowded in the entry way. There are a lot of booths, with a couple feee standing tables and chairs, as well as a 32 inch high bar seating with free standing chairs. The bathroom hallway is tight and the bathroom door is a 32 inch push into a tight bathoom. The bathroom has a toilet with side rail in a large stall. The sink is about 32 inch high and the towel dispenser is about 50...
