A&W Canada — Restaurant in Saint-Charles-Borromée

Have a lot to say. New retail outlet, in Saint-Charles Borrommée, rue Visitation in Québec. Looked forward to a visit for a few weeks. Fiasco. Staff members visibly lacking training. Menu on TVs incomplete (3/4of the items were missing). Slow service. Young female employee chomping away on pieces of French fries she was cooking. Food - once ready - left under the lights while there were no other customers and a good 5-6 employees in the back, yapping away. No food hygiene - no gloves, employees touching everything with their hands. Food quality and portion size - just terrible. Miniscule amounts of meat (patty about 6-7 mm thick, even in the $8 Mozza Burger), cheese slice totally cold and not melted. Practically no condiments. A chicken wrap, thin slice of meat that looked like half a wing, about a teaspoon of lettuce. All of this took up only half (lengthwise) of the wrap. At a loss for words. (We have photos if you'd like to see them.) Everything was excessively salty. And, on another note, how can a grass-fed cow be responsible for a burger with 29 g fat? Now, restaurant. 10 of the 20 or so tables were empty, but dirty. No one was picking up or washing. The condiment and beverage dispensing area in the back was borderline filthy - countertops sticky with dried liquid (root beer) and liquid all over the floor. Nothing was replaced (napkin dispensers, for example, stayed empty). We have a business, thought we'd left the manager know. Assistant manager came to see us, looked appropriately abashed and offered us a "turnover". Now, not blaming him, because truth be told, as a corporation, A & W should do better by its franchisees and employees. The lack of training was blatant and painful to see. Staff members were very, very young (and yes, we get the manpower issue in Canada, but that excuse wears thin after a while). Your company name is on that bright banner. All this for $26. Probably never...

Well--we think this A&W may have just opened. The counter person didn't understand our drink order, didn't know how to enter it, and then nobody made the drinks. (Note: my French isn't perfect but I'm pretty sure I can say "root beer frappé avec crème" clearly enough.) But they were very friendly and apologetic. Place was very clean and the food...

PASSEZ VOTRE CHEMIN!! McDo est pas loin, Chez Henri non plus. Les commandes sont jamais exactes. Le resto manque toujours de stock. Un A et W pas de rondelles, pas de root beer!! Oui a St Charles Borromée c’est possible! Combinez avec le fait que le staff est jamais le même… on peut s’imaginer à quel point c’est mal géré.

Aujourd’hui on me sert une frite avec mon combo au lieu de la rondelle. Je regarde ma facture c’est écrit rondelles. Entre en dedans pour me faire corriger ça. Le commis qui peut pas s’en crisser plus et qui a l’air d’avoir fumé un gros deux papiers me dit simplement qu’ils ont plus de rondelles.

Pourquoi vous me l’avez pas dit au micro du drive demandais-je!
