Crabby Joe's Bar • Grill — Restaurant in Sarnia

Made the epic mistake of eating at Crabby Joes this evening and am nothing but disappointed. While not regulars of the chain by any means we have visited innumerable times over the years and have found this particular location to provide a reasonable meal and service. Tonight I don't believe I could have been more disappointed unless I found a big fat juicy bug in my food.

We were "greeted" at the door by two kids who didn't look like they could possible be old enough to have a job but were obviously employees given the uniform. They simply looked at me until I let them know how many were in our party. We were seated quickly and the waitress was polite, pleasant, and welcoming. There was a bit of a wait to place our order but she was busy cashing out a large table so I was not too worried. I ordered the single beer-battered fish and chips, my husband the wicked chicken and shrimp penne, my daughter the children's pasta with marinara sauce, and my son children's chicken tenders with carrots and celery.

While waiting for our food, my daughter and I visited the women's washroom which was nothing short of disgusting. 2 stalls were filthy and a third contained an overflowing toilet. The fourth stall had a usable toilet but no lock on the door, the toilet paper dispenser was empty with rolls simply sitting on the back of the toilet, and what I'm quite certain was human excrement on the back wall. The state of the bathroom was reported to a manager who advised they would take care of it. The waitress came by a few minutes later to apologize and thank me for bringing it to their attention... the waitress, not the manager as would have been appropriate.

Our food arrived within a somewhat reasonable time frame although to be perfectly frank, I almost wish it had not arrived at all. My fish was not beer battered by any stretch of the imagination and the batter was strangely chewy instead of the crisp batter one would reasonably expect. My fries were cold and the coleslaw was so bitter that I'm not sure it wasn't rancid. My husband and daughter's pasta dishes were clearly made with the same brown sludgy pasta sauce not the respective white wine and tomato sauce or marinara sauce with which the menu's descriptions indicated they would be. When questioned about this, the waitress admitted that the same sauce is used in both dishes. My husband's pasta was also disgustingly greasy to the point where it caused severe indigestion despite the fact that he did not finish the meal. My son's chicken strip meal was also disappointing consisting of three tiny strips, 3 carrot sticks, and two pieces of dried out, limp celery.

Overall the meal was simply an expensive learning experience and we will definitely not be returning to this Crabby Joe's franchise any time...

Most HORRIBLE restaurant experience EVER in my life . This is now the third occurence in the last few months each time was worse will never go back AGAIN. For a Saturday later evening (was not even busy maybe four other tables occupied eventually just two) . Not only was the service slow and the staff were made aware in advance of reservations for a large group even called two days prior and again early that evening to confirm Two waitresses could of covered our large group. About three diff times I observed the waitresses , two of them just standing there talking and laughing around each time for at least 10min or more not even doing anything . After well over an hour most of us were beyond upset and hungry so made a complaint to the manager. The waitresses were rude and ignored us. It took over an hour to even order and waited almost another hour after getting food. There was 4 waitresses and also even a manager present. After we complained to the manager her reply was about racial and made her reply about her race and how she was the only Indian and not from this country and was a foreigner, um did she miss the fact I did not state ANYTHING about race and it was about lack of service and our waitress was rude. Not once did we mention race, we stated how the service was poor and our waitress basically ignored us and made a rude comment and horrible facial expressions and we were waiting well over hr n half for just for appetizers, the manager did not even try come speak to us or do anything, until one waitress stepped in when we asked her for some help she was helpful I told her we were sick of waiting and Was going to leave that's what I told the manager . The manager dealt with this very poorly also did not even get the food I ordered. I will never go back the service sucks . The manager and waitress need be accountable, I thought I'd give this one more try and give the benefit of doubt, each time was even worse the last three times over the last couple of months, never again . I have been going to this restaurant for many years and quite often, lunch, dinner, half price appetizers. I have never had a complaint. The last 4 times we were there, you can tell how this restaurant has deteriorated, not only in quality of food but service. This particular day we took my mom out for lunch on her birthday. There was only 2 tables that came after us, so 3 tables in total. I ordered fajitas, which I’ve had many times before, onion rings on the side for the table to share. My niece ordered a Caesar salad with no bacon, as she’s a vegetarian. My mother ordered chicken fingers with fries. My sister pasta. The Caesar salad had pieces of bacon in it, like somebody removed it but didn’t get it all. The onion rings, fries and chicken fingers, were dark and greasy, I’m sure whatever they use to deep fry needed to be changed. The fajitas were not sizzling like they usually do and was so full of grease that I had to strain it when I put it in the tortilla. I had to ask the waitress to change my tortillas because they were hard as a rock. The second set she brought was no better. All the food was cold, not even warm, just cold. Waitress came to ask how things were, which of course I told her how terrible the food was, I have never complained. She proceeded to tell me how bad the cook was and that all the tables there that day have been complaining about the food. How every Sunday is like this with the cook. I asked her if the owner was there and she said no. I asked her for a phone number, which at the end of the meal she gave me. I called the owner, left a message, no call back. The next day I called the restaurant and left a message, again no call back. I brought the food home with me, not sure why, I ended up throwing it in the garbage. The total for that meal was $ 110 dollars. It was disgusting and I will not go back. Especially since nobody had the nerve to call me back. You lost some customers here. Crabby Joes was our go to place. Now I will take my business...
