Reggae's Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Sarnia

A few months ago, in passing, my wife and I stopped in to grab a few beef patties. The owner was delightful and the patties were fantastic. I promised my wife that we'd be back soon. Why we waited so long is beyond me. Today we had a lunch experience that won't soon be forgotten (and seven hours later, we still have no interest in eating anything further).

Where to begin? Portions were bordering on ridiculous and made me question how a profit is being made. But considering the quality, I won't be complaining about abundance. And oh my god, the quality of the food. I opted for the jerk chicken, while my wife went with the oxtail. I don't recall a time when she ever refused to share, but there's a first time for everything. And Reggae's marked that first time. She was in heaven, and I wasn't far behind with the jerk chicken. It might have been one of the best balanced meals I've tasted. It all just worked - without being overwhelmed by too much heat (a sin at many a caribbean restaurants). Mercifully their menu is fairly small, so I don't feel too daunted in my new desire to try it all.

As for the owners? Well, it's hard to top the food, but their love, passion and enthusiasm for all they do only made the experience that much better. We truly felt like old friends.

I rarely ignore the amount of a bill when it arrives, but today I couldn't have cared less (granted, it did end up being well worth the cost). However this attests to how special the whole experience was. You simply can't put a dollar figure on such things.

Bad experience:- I normally order from them and the food was always good. However, today I ordered food for lunch delivery (while at work). when I got the food I was very disappointed. the rice tasted like it came out of a bulk rice bag that was catching dust, the mac salad tasted like it was made in a dirty bowl (It literally taste like dirty water and my throat is burning as I type) and the oxtail was good for the most part but I got a weird smell from it like it was leftover from the night before.

Like I mentioned earlier I always order from there and I have never had a bad experience so I decided to call them and tell them about it hoping for something good to come from the call.

The lady ( I believe the owner answered) said " it is nothing I can do if you didn't like the food" I said " I don't mean any harm but as a frequent customer I am very unhappy paying all the money to have the food delivered and not enjoy it" her: " well no one else is complaining about the food" me: "are you the owner?" her : "yes" Me: "Best of wishes goodbye" side note: she had an attitude on the phone and yes I was being...

I loved the idea of this place.. The employees are amazingly friendly, however I was a little disappointed with the food. I know the outside looks much cleaner than the inside. There were way too many spices (as in flavour) in mine and my bfs order. It was overpowered with flavour, I never complain about any type of food when I go out but this, I could not handle. We brought our orders home and diluted the rice with a pot of rice I boiled to be able to tolerate the food. I am not saying this to be mean, I’m just giving constructive criticism. They really cool people and I can see it being enjoyable on the weekends, if I’ve decide to go back, it will probably be just to drink. We got our hopes up because of all of the positive reviews.
