Short version- arrived with two coworkers at 11:40, ordered 11:45, food on table 12:32. Ignored by server and barkeep, food prepared poorly, no excuse given.
Detailed version- wanted to do lunch with two coworkers. Have eaten at the Fox many times over many years, and ordered pickup direct from them multiple times during the pandemic, very typically a great experience. As above, got there well ahead of the lunch crowd and ordered- nothing complex, two orders fish and chips, one dry ribs with crosstracks. At about 12:05, started wondering but figured food would show soon. As we waited, we were largely ignored by the waitress, albeit she was starting to get busier with more tables coming in. 12:10, barkeep (manager?) wanders by, I catch him for a refill on my drink. Asked him if our food would be much longer, he said there's only one cook. I noted that tables arriving after us were getting their food, he said it wouldn't be long. 12:15/12:20, I'm starting to get a little steamed, because so much for a leisurely lunch. Tracked down the waitress, she checks the system (order hit kitchen 12:47), says she'll go see. Couple minutes later, she's at the table, sorry, he was backed up but plating now. 12:32 food on table- fish looks like it was double fried, oily, cold fries. No apologies or reason given, dropped plates and disappeared. Ate as much as could stomach, flagged her down again to get the bill, paid full price, won't be back and will no longer recommend to anyone- in fact, I'd say avoid avoid avoid. Like I said, used to be great, miss Jolene like crazy, but now it's a greasy dive where they don't care about...
Read moreTerrible experience. Went in today passed the server and bartender on our way to find a table I said Hi to make sure they saw us. Sat in the back for ten minutes without service so I walked up to the bar and ordered after looking up the menu myself on their website Ordered the breakfast while standing at the bar the waitress made a comment that breakfast isn’t served during the week I offered to change my order but the cook was great and made it anyway. Sat at the table and waited. Food was served 6/10 toast wasn’t toasted. Bacon not the greatest but can’t complain the cook was kind enough to make it for us. Not once did anyone check on us to ask how food was or if we needed anything. No plates cleared. We had to walk to the bar to ask for our bill. Worst service ever used to go often but stopped because of this thought we’d try again but it was worse. Won’t be back again. First time I’ve never tipped a server. Place was not busy at all either so not a reason for...
Read moreIt was my first time here (for drinks only) and I had a good time. While the interior decor consists of lots of finished wood that feels a bit dated, it still remains consistent with the decor of what most people would (historically and otherwise) consider a pub.
Conversely, the bathroom is surprisingly quite modern and upscale, save for a couple of drilled holes in the wall above the urinals that need patching.
On-site attached off sale, numerous VLTs, friendly staff and a rediculously long list of "on tap" offerings that the waitress impressively recited from memory when asked. She just kept going and going... I wasn't expecting the list to be so extensive.
The only thing I didn't see was any kind of patio seating, but it's the end of the season so it's possible I didn't see it because it's already been winterized.
Overall it's a typical pub/bar, similar to places like Leopold's Tavern, but with much, much more space inside....
