2 friends of mine told me that food is good specially any beef soup. So I gave it a try at FUH station located at Idylwyd. I ordered the beef soup, the broth was good and tasty... lots of meat.. absolutely delicious!!! they also served it with fresh bean sprouts for side, when I'm eating at the restaurant, seems good but I noticed that there is lots of MSG.. I could feel that while eating.. I could easily get dizzy if there is lots of MSG on the food. I also ordered the spicy beef soup for to go, when I came home, I immediately went to the washroom.. twice.. then the next day woke up, went to the washroom 2x, I still had the spicy beef soup on my fridge... so what I did is I just took the broth and the meat and bring it to a boil to kill any bacteria.. if there is.. (I was suspecting that the noodles made my stomach sick so I did throw it) my son and I shared the soup. and same thing happened.. we went to the washroom immediately after eating... to the FUH management at Idylwyd... please try to review the food preparations you are doing, there could be something in there (on the beef soup) that made our stomach sick, the food is undoubtedly delicious.. I want to go again there.. but please do something on the food preparation. probably something is spoil or I don't know... you're food is better than Thien... but please... keep an eye on food prep and staging to maintain the quality and safety of the food...
Read moreThis is a Vietnamese hole-in-the-wall, and I mean that in the best sense possible. I always look for hole-in-the-walls, first of all because they have great food but also because the exterior details keep the riffraff and food snobs away.
This one is attached to a gas station and you can miss the restaurant sign if you're not looking for it. In fact the restaurant itself easily looks like just another part of the gas station.
A coworker and I went at 12:30 and had to wait to be seated. That should tell you it has a decent-sized, faithful customer base. The servers were polite even though they had to hurry to keep up with the busy pace. But drink and meal orders came in a timely fashion and the food wasn't far behind.
We got the special, pork & sausage noodle bowl. It wasn't an "out of this world" cuisine experience, but then that's not why I went there. It was a great place to eat and be able to have a great conversation. The layout was half booths and half tables, and there was no annoying music to try and shout over. So it was the perfect ambience.
I highly recommend it...but let's keep it our little...
Read moreAfter seeing many people rave about this place, I decided to go check it out. I ordered a lemongrass chicken noodle bowl, and a side order of spring rolls. I always ask for my noodle bowls to come without green onions and bean sprouts. My boyfriend asked for for the same noodle bowl, but with everything in it. My noodle bowl came without green onions, but loaded with bean sprouts. And my boyfriends came with green onions, but no bean sprouts. I sent mine back, as I can’t stand bean sprouts, and all they did was lift up the noodles and pick out the bean sprouts. When I got it back, it was all ice cold, and I was still picking out the rest of the bean sprouts that they missed. I sent it back again, asking that they remake my noodle bowl, instead of picking out their mistakes. They remade my noodle bowl, and it was nice and hot and made correctly. They ended up taking my noodle bowl off the bill, which was nice. Overall, wasn’t super impressed with both the noodle bowls itself, and the way the issue was originally handled. I likely...
