On Aug 22, 2018, I wanted to take out some friends who were in from another province and it was such a horrendous experience. As a table of 7 people, we were charged a mandatory 13% gratuity but the service we were given did not deserve any tip at all. To begin with, when we ordered our selections of platters and foods, we were never given our full order. We were given meager servings for our table of 7 people, even though we had clearly ordered more food. None of the staff came to our table so we could kindly show them this mistake they had made. We also wanted to order drinks but the staff hardly came by. And when we finally flagged down an employee to tell her about our missing food, she turned around and left our table before we could even order our drinks! I tried to call out “excuse me” but she kept walking away. Eventually we had to go find an employee and flag her down to order our drinks. We received absolutely horrible service. When we ordered our second round of food, it was the same bad service- we did not receive everything we ordered. We kindly pointed this out to the next employee we could find. We even tried to order the extra lamb skewers on the side…. But that did not come. Finally we placed our third order, a simple order of 2 servings of glass noodles and the lamb skewers that did not come. While the lamb skewers did come, only 1 order of the glass noodles came. We told our waitress that we ordered 2, and she LIED to us and told us that this small paltry bowl of noodles was considered 2 servings. We knew this was a lie as in the previous order, we ordered 2 servings and received 2 orders. When we went to pay our bill, the waitress senselessly split the 4 beers amongst 7 people, and the 2 lamb skewers amongst us all 7 of us, as well. This was absolutely horrible service that makes me question the integrity of a business that LIES to patrons about the food they ordered and paid for. The guests around us with smaller tables and less people seemed to receive better service, and we think it’s because the servers already knew they would be receiving the mandatory 13% gratuity from us, and chose to ignore us because they knew they would receive our tip regardless of their garbage service. We were continually ignored by your employees, our service was delayed until WE, the customers, had to go find our servers to get service. The mandatory tip should be removed if this is how poor your service is. And employees should never be lying...
Read moreTHIS PLACE… omg… Happy Lamb Hot Pot can take all of my money. This is hands down my favourite restaurant in the city. I went for supper just this past week and as always had the most amazing time and thought it was time to write a review. Happy Lamb can definitely be a little intimidating if you have no clue what you’re doing. I am going to list my entire order to help some of ya out: I order a large curry broth (it is my favourite among all of their options but spicy) along with an order of beef and lamb. They have hot food ready to eat. Some of my favourites are the deep fried spring rolls, deep fried chicken wings, and the sesame balls. There is also a huge selection of sauces where you can create whatever sauce mixture you like. Honestly I think the key to enjoying your meal is creating a good sauce because you will be wanting to dip everything in it. I add 2 spoons hoisin sauce, 2 spoons chilli oil, 2 spoons green onions, 1 spoon garlic, and 1 spoon of a spicy pink sauce that resembles a sweet and sour sauce. ( I forget what it’s called)! There is a huge selection of food that you will cook in your broth. Make sure to fill up on the Napa cabbage, enoki mushrooms, crab sticks, glass noodles, and fresh tofu (some of my very favourites. These food soak up the broth so nicely and make for the perfect bite after dipped in the sauce. My boyfriend and I eat here at least once every 2 weeks. Our bill is between $65 and $70 for the both of us. Make sure you go here for a free meal on your birthday. The staff are extremely quick on their feet and you will be eating moments after you arrive. They are also very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere of the restaurant is bright,...
Read moreMy partner and I went to Happy Lamb Hot Pot today at 2:30, we love eating there. As we knew it was late in the day, we expected to pay the supper price and not the lunch price.
As I'm grabbing food from the buffet, the worker runs to me and grabs the plate of food from me saying, "this is for supper!" as she was about to empty the food back in the bins. I said, "we can pay for that," still shocked and she gave me my food back. My partner noticed her abruptly coming to me so he came to check on me. This wouldn't have happened if she gave me the benefit of the doubt and trusted we could afford to pay the supper price instead of taking things from customer hands. She's the usual waitress with the black cap.
There have been countless times we have come during the lunch price hours, and have always been charged for the supper price, so we just always expect to pay the supper price despite knowing 3 PM is the end time for lunch because we love eating there.
While we can respect the time and price change and we'll always pay what is expected, we cannot respect the fact that food was taken from my hands as if I were a child in trouble.
I hope a lesson can be learned from this experience for the staff regarding customer service, and maybe consider some signage that outlines on the food coolers the time change, and which side is availible for lunch or supper so customers can make an informed decision.
That experience made the rest of visit the visit...
