I’m no expert in the art of ramen, but let me tell you I LOVE ramen. We make an effort to hit a ramen shop in every city/town that offers it as we pass by when we travel in Canada. The actual atmosphere and building were pleasing to sit at, they use those textured plastic chop sticks which is fine. I prefer wooden chop sticks myself (easier for my clumsy hands to hold). The Gyoza was okay, not mind bending or anything, needs to definitely spend more time frying, had a soft outer texture. Most gyoza Ive had is crispy. Onto why I’m only giving one star. The Ramen, the headline to a ramen shop. I dined on the Spicy Paitan, I’ll start with the alright. The Greens IE Chili thread, arugula, Tokyo Negi and crispy garlic were acceptable but that’s about it. The protein in the meal, the chicken, was bland
Read moreWent to Ko for dinner on our wedding anniversary. It was a great experience! Mm y husband and I samples the bang bang chicken bao buns, the classic tonkatsu ramen and the black tonkatsu ramen. All of it was great! Ramen was definitely on par with some of the best ramen I had while actually in Japan, so I am excited to be able to get that here at home! The passionfruit cocktail was great and they actually offered to make an alcohol-free version for my husband who can't drink. It's rare that a restaurant actual have "mocktail" options! It's a very nice change from the standard pop that non-drinkers usually get stuck with.
The whole menu sounded awesome, I have to go back just so I can try the rest of it. The only downside is that the desserts menu doesn't have any items that don't contain dairy. I hope they consider adding a non-dairy based choice there, but to be honest I run into that issue at a lot of restaurants.
Atmosphere was lovely. This restaurant makes a for a great date night, at a very reasonable price. If I want similar atmosphere I can expect to pay quite a bit more elsewhere. Service was good and our server was very friendly. I will...
Read moreDo not use the Ko website delivery service to order.
We tried to use the Ko website instead of Uber as I understand these services can cut into the profits of the restaurant. The Ko website offers a generic arrival time 45-75 minutes after the order is placed, but it's now clear there is no tracking mechanism in place after that. There are no updates on whether food is prepared or arrival time. Almost two hours after a sizeable order was placed we contacted Ko to ask about where our food was - they said they had no idea and they would contact the driver and call us back. After another 10-15 minutes we called again and they said they couldn't' reach the driver and still had no idea. I asked if they could make the food again and send it out right away and they offered to refund us instead.
If you have to order from them definitely do not use the Ko website delivery option, get some kind of security through a delivery service...
