21/01.23 Returned to White Lotus finally. Management had invited us to try it again back after my last review, which wasn't a bad review, we just disappointed with the soup. We wanted some soup tonight, so thought we'd give it a shot and went to the restaurant to eat in. We were again impressed by the polite and friendly service. All servers we encountered were quick to respond and very efficient. The restaurant was clean and neat, and there was comfortable seating. It appeared there were people there who were obvious regulars - which is a good sign. Food was delivered in good time and was hot. We got chicken cold rolls, spring rolls, and sate chicken soup. The food was obviously fresh and very tasty. The spring rolls are some of the best we have had. The soup was hot, flavorful, with plenty of chicken and vegetables. As described in the menu, it had a tasty creamy peanut flavour, with just the right amount of spice.
Overall, good food, good service, and reasonable prices.. We are happy we went back, and even more happy to have a vietnamese restaurant to go to that's reasonably close to our neighborhood.
05/22 Gave it a 2nd chance after a really disappointing tasteless meal there a few years ago shortly after it opened. Tonight I ordered online and picked up. It was quick and ready as scheduled. Though I didn't eat in, the restaurant is neat and cozy. Easy to find parking. Staff were friendly and quick to respond. Food was mostly better than last time. We loved the spring rolls - as good as any we've had (good price for 4 rolls). Their Singapore style noodles was tasty with just the right amount of spice, considering I wasnt able to specify spice level. We were disappointed with the Tom Yum soup though. Extremely bland for a soup supposed to be spicy and flavourful. If there were chili's or lime juice in it we sure couldn't see or taste either. Good amount of vegetables and chicken. 2 lonely shrimp. Would not do over, even if we could specify spice level. Would we return or pick up there again? Yes, we just wouldn't get that soup. Will try satay soup next time.
UPDATE: The restaurant responded to my review, asking for a 2nd chance and asking me to contact them. I did that because as I'd noted, there was good parts of our meal. They have offered us a free soup on our next order. We will absolutely try them again, as supporting your neighborhood, family businesses is important - for them,...
Read moreOrdered from skip asked for no nuts as there is a severe allergy. Was greeted with a very unhelpful individual saying there was no notes so not our problem when we added notes stating the allergy is severe. No help what so ever. Poor customer service. Food won’t be eaten and will never go back. Reply: Is there no such thing as customer satisfaction anymore ? I called stating that there was an allergy and was greeting by the response of basically not our problem? Would you not want to help your customers and make sure you have people enjoy your food? This wasn’t trying to get free food this was a clear allergy which was entered in on our end so what occurred I’m unsure but your food went into the garbage. The allergy is serious as so many are and even though you claim there was no information on such your staff were very rude right off the hop and not willing to work with us and when you spend $50 on food you would think we could have came to a resolution. I guarantee you guys have more than $50 in waste so what would have been one bowl swapped with another ? Again I called asking if we could get a new one as the allergy is severe and the food went to waste. Pretty insane to me that you were unwilling to work with your customers and then to reply as if not knowing what to do. I would understand if the wrong thing was ordered but nuts being added to something is insane. Had we been in the restaurant would we have been met with the same hostility ? Or would you have taken the food back and got a new one ? Food for thought… again won’t be coming back as this is not how anyone should be treated. And future wise maybe you should put those things in containers in separate bags to avoid this with...
Read moreI went there earlier today to try out their Pho since it's supposed to be one of the highest rated in the city. At first, I wasn't very impressed with it. The place was nice and clean but there were few patrons there to begin with however, as 6pm arrived, a lot of people suddenly poured in and it became lively.
The pho itself was smaller than what I would have expected for the price but the broth was quite good and tasty. For some reason, there's a heavy leaning towards vegetable stock here which is weird to me as in Ontario, it's a heavier meat stock. The flavor was quite refreshing though and the quality of their ingredients was impressive. The Thai Basil was the freshest I've ever seen at a Vietnamese restaurant while the meatballs they included in the pho were likely home-made as they were very tasty and flavorful. The proportions were smaller than those in Ontario but in so far, I haven't found a place where they had differing sizes so it may be the norm here.
Although the stock, the ingredients, and the noodles were quite favorable, I found the customer service to be even more incredible. I discovered a hair in the soup when it was first delivered and without question, another bowl was brought out with their fervent apologies. Although it was a small loss in time, the quality and taste easily made up for it. I was perfectly content to pay for that but despite my insistence that I pay for the meal, they refused to accept payment. There are very few places in Canada that do that so I was very astounded when it was a place in Saskatoon and a Vietnamese place at that.
I'll definitely be back to try more...
